The Washington County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation into allegations of the s*xual assault of a child.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued on July 6, 2026, for Mark Crawford, DOB 12/20/1980, of Bennington, Nebraska.

Crawford has been charged with:

• Child Abuse – Intentional, No Serious Bodily Injury, a Class IIIA Felony; and
• Sexual Assault of a Child in the Third Degree, a Class IIIA Felony.

Crawford was arrested by the Bennington Police Department on July 6, 2026, in Bennington.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office thanks the Bennington Police Department for its assistance with this investigation.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (NE) released the following information in a press release about the arrest of former Husker wrestler AJ Ferrari this morning in Bennington/Elkhorn area.

DOUGLAS COUNTY - Over the past few days the DCSO Special Operations Group (SOG) has been working tips submitted indicating that Albert J. Ferrari, age 24, was residing at a residence in Douglas County.

FERRARI had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Lancaster County
on charges of:

• Assault by Strangulation/Suffocation on a Pregnant Woman, Felony 3

• DV Assault 3rd Degree, Felony 3A

• False Imprisonment – 1st Degree, Felony 3A

This morning, SOG Investigators established surveillance around the residence FERRARI was alleged to be residing at near Bennington. At 10:42 AM SOG Investigators observed a woman leave the residence and get into the driver’s seat of a truck that was
in the driveway. A short time later a male was seen crawling out of the garage and entering the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. That male was identified as FERRARI.

SOG Investigators followed the truck in unmarked vehicles and notified DCSO Uniformed Services Bureau (USB) Patrol Deputies of the vehicle’s location. USB Deputies performed a Felony Traffic stop in the area of 204th and Grand Avenue, where FERRARI was safely
taken into custody. FERARRI was booked into the Douglas County Department of Corrections on his warrant.
