People who have been experiencing this disaster: I'm trying to compile a solid list of organizations that have been wildly helpful...we are talking the World Central Kitchen, United Way, BeLoved Asheville, type organizations that were taking the lead in organizing boots on the ground. Can you help?

We are opening up ad sales for our newest issue. We think this story needs to be told, and it needs a lot of room. We figure 130 pages should do the trick, but we need to work with some new advertisers as our mountain-based advertisers recover.

Our newest issue seeks to tell the true story of Hurricane Helene, and to do that, we are seeking the personal accounts of folks who were impacted by the hurricane. This is the daily update for 10/12...note several counties are opened up again, and the yellow represents roads that are opened up in counties. It's Ok now, for instance, to drive through Burke to get to Haywood, so long as you stay on the yellow...they are major highways that have been cleared. We have some communities claiming they are open when the government says their roads aren't...I do wish there would be some coordination here. Boone and Blowing Rock say come back, for instance, but the government has cleared exactly one road in the whole county.
