☀ Fun Fact Saturday! ☀

Cattle have always had a special place in my heart. I showed steers in high school and have dreamed of having my own herd ever since.

One of my favorites is Peaches, a Simmental calf I raised from a bottle 12 years ago. She started out at 100 pounds and now weighs just under 2,000. Her back is taller than me but we are still best friends.

My newest buddy is Ace who just turned 5 months old. I’ve been teaching him little horse-type tricks like picking up his feet and staying calm and confident.

From steers in the show ring to bottle babies that become family, cattle have been part of my story for as long as I can remember.

Fun Fact Saturday! ☀✈️☀

I love to travel. Mountains, quiet ranch roads, and sandy beaches all make me happy. I usually plan trips around food because trying new restaurants is half the fun!

I grew up in northern Michigan, surrounded by the Great Lakes and beautiful inland lakes like Torch Lake and Lake Charlevoix. Some of my memories are riding ferries, watching drawbridges rise for passing boats, seeing the locks open and close, and spending hours on the shore of Lake Michigan looking for Petoskey stones. Those experiences gave me a love for the water, but also a deep respect for its power. I love it and fear it at the same time.

Maybe that’s why one of my favorite things in life is being on the beach during or right after a storm. This picture is of one of my all-time favorite post-storm memories on the Texas coast. When it's stormy on the beach, the waves crash harder, the air turns heavy and salty, and then everything settles into calm. It feels like the world just took a deep breath . . . and so did I.

You’ve been with me through career moves, milestones, and messy days… and somehow you still look at me like I hung the moon. I don’t know what I did to deserve a dog like you - loyal, goofy, intuitive, and full of love - but I’m grateful every single day.

Whether we’re out checking on cattle, curled up after a long day, or carrying shoes around like your very own paci . . . you make my world a better place.
