Paws and Claws Publishing, LLC

Paws and Claws Publishing, LLC Paws and Claws Publishing, LLC, provides a variety of services to help you meet your publishing goal In the publishing world, smaller can be better. We don’t.

At Paws and Claws Publishing, LLC, we want to publish books that give children and teenagers—as well as the adults who read to them, mentor them, guide them, and teach them—the kinds of books that will influence them to make a positive difference in our world and to be successful, well-rounded, compassionate human beings. Yes, Paws and Claws Publishing is a small company. We accept books from firs

t-time authors as well as established authors. We don’t expect every author to write sequels. We work one-on-one with each author from the time we first contact him or her. We don’t create cookie-cutter books. Every book is unique, tailored to the author’s story and message and desires, and enticing to readers and book buyers alike. Every author earns membership to an exclusive club: the Paws and Claws Publishing family. You see, once we commit to an author, we remain committed to him or her. We promote and market every author and their book(s) in perpetuity. Our books won’t go out of print. Each author’s family membership won’t expire. We have several advantages over large publishing houses. We care passionately about books. We always have, and we always will. We grew up reading, reading, and reading. We couldn’t devour enough books. All kinds of books. That’s why we want to publish books we believe in. Then we do our best to sell them. Naturally, we have to try to make a profit. Otherwise we’ll be out of business. Large publishers insist that every book make a profit. Some books make money immediately. Some don’t. We aren’t upset if a book is slower to sell than others. We think that’s fine. Every book we create is one of our children, and we love all of our children equally. We will always love them, no matter what. We’re a small, independent, privately owned publishing house. We publish books we believe in with our whole hearts. Books we want to publish and that we hope our readers will want to read. We have no hierarchical organization of men or women in suits to tell us what to do. We do what we believe is right. We have years of experience in all aspects of publishing, the drive to continue to grow Paws and Claws, and the desire to promote all of our books by all of our authors to sell as well as they possibly can in an ever-changing publishing landscape. We publish books the old-fashioned way. Books that have a classically published look. That’s what we think publishing is all about. That’s what we think readers and book lovers want.

April 23, 2025—Paws and Claws Publishing is proud to announce that Cameron Pendergraft’s new and seventh picture book “The Tale of the Fairy Tree” is now available on Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com. Her first rhyming book begins “Oh, to whisper. / Oh, to wonder. / Oh, to wait and see.” This magical refrain repeats endearingly and is easy to remember and chant along with the reader. Fairies live in “an aged oak tree in [their] grandmother’s yard.” Charming details about the fairies’ home are woven throughout the book. Each night, fairies leave gifts for people: coins, rings, necklaces, ribbons, a sparkling wand, pieces of lace, tiny seashells, and an ancient brass bell. At night in bed, the children wonder if they should sneak out and get close to the tree. During messy or windy weather, fairies stay indoors to keep dry, so they don’t leave gifts. Eventually the author asks readers if they’ve ever found a fairy tree and then suggests looking for gifts on the morning dew. You’ll be enchanted by pixie dust. Sparkling, golden stars that encircle the stanzas light up readers’ and listeners’ eyes. Cameron’s timeless, classic tale will encourage your little ones to watch for fairies, their homes, and their gifts left during the night. Congratulations, Cameron, on your seventh charming book!

Newsflash!
Soon Hope Taylor Spencer’s first book “Rainy Days at the Beach” will debut from Paws and Claws Publishing, LLC. This lively rhyming children’s picture book for children in Grades K‒2 will be the first achievement of her lifelong dream of publishing a children’s book “that children would want to explore over and over.”
Each set of two stanzas starts with one that tells what the children would be doing on a sunny day at the beach. The second stanza asserts that “nobody plays on rainy days,” and this refrain repeats throughout the book. The repetition will delight readers and listeners who will certainly chime in on those stanzas about nobody playing on rainy days. The energetic, colorful artwork shows lots of animals that live on the beach and in the ocean doing all that they do, no matter what the weather.
The author has included a wide variety of fun activities that children playing on the beach love to do in the sand and in the surf. On rainy days, the youngsters sadly try to replicate those activities indoors. It’s just not the same. Readers will laugh along as they read the book and will understand as the youngsters miss all the fun they have on the beach when it’s raining.
As Hope dreamed, children will want to read this over and over to get tickled by the rhymes and enjoy all the fun to be had on the beach.
As soon as the book has debuted on Amazon.com, we’ll let you know. Shortly after that, it will appear on Barnesandnoble.com as well.
Congratulations to Hope Taylor Spencer on the soon-to-come premiere of her rhyming book filled with lots of beach fun!

Newsflash!
Jennifer Tipton Cappoen and I are very proud to introduce our newest Paws and Claws publishing author to you.
Hope Taylor Spencer grew up in a military family and has lived in 11 states and Puerto Rico. As she moved, she learned that she found great friends in books. She read about the world and dreamed of someday writing her own book for children.
As an elementary teacher, Hope had her happiest classroom moments when she read aloud. She enjoyed seeing one of her students reading a book independently. Hope still longed to write a story of her own.
The beach was another constant in her life. She visited beaches on the shores of Lake Huron in Michigan and on the coasts of California, Alabama, Florida, and Texas. Every summer her grandparents took her to beaches in North Carolina, which were her favorites. She was fascinated by the water, sand, seashells, culture, and sea life. She knew she’d write a story about the beach one day.
Today Hope lives in a small town near the North Carolina coast. She lives with her husband, Brent, and their two small dogs, Joey and Sandy. She loves reading, gardening, spending time with family, and visiting the beach.
Soon Hope’s first book, Rainy Days at the Beach, will debut. It’s a rhyming children’s picture book for children in Grades K‒2. Hope will be seeing her longtime dream come true. Watch for more soon.
Welcome to the Paws and Claws Publishing family, Hope.

C.L. Stilwill’s first book “The Great Lilac Forest” published by Paws and Claws Publishing, LLC, has debuted on both Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com. This fantasy-adventure book for Middle Grades children tells the engaging story of the Green family. The children—Kat, Donnie, and Nate—don’t know that their parents were born in the inner worlds, not in the outer world where they live. They also don’t know that their parents have chosen their animal forms and that they will be able to change into these animals in the inner worlds.
After you have bought her book from either site and have received and read your book, please return to the book’s page on the site to fill out an evaluation of the book. They also don’t know that their parents have chosen their animal forms and that they will be able to change into these animals in the inner worlds.
One day a baby rabbit leads baby Nate into the inner worlds for their first, unplanned visit there, though the children have not been trained.
Their second unscheduled visit begins their harrowing adventures as they assist in the rescue of the Princess. Almost immediately, the complexities of upcoming events unfold in unnerving ways.
With pirates who have ransomed the Princess, a treacherous cliff to climb and swamp to cross on the way, form changers whose animal forms make their trip safer, magic all around them in the trees and kelp forests and devices that Aunt N***y creates, and ultimately two rescue teams needed, this dynamic story will have you on the edge of your seat. You’ll be fascinated by its unexpected twists and turns.
Will they rescue the Princess? Will they make it home safely if they do? What will happen to the Green family in the future? You’ll have to read the book to find out. And you won’t want to stop reading.
As soon as the book has debuted on Amazon.com, we’ll let you know. Shortly after that, it will appear on Barnesandnoble.com as well.

Jennifer Tipton Cappoen and I are very proud to introduce our newest Paws and Claws Publishing author to you.
C.L. Stilwill grew up in the Caribbean and now lives in Minnesota. She is a computer geek with undergrad degrees in Studio Art and Spanish.
She loves adventuring in nature—hiking, biking, camping, backpacking, cross-country skiing, even dogsledding—and traveling to explore other countries and learn about their culture and art. In her free time, she reads, creates fused glass pieces, paints, draws, and dabbles in other mediums as the fancy strikes.
She first came up with the idea for her fantasy-adventure book for Middle Grades children while playing make-believe with her godchildren in the backyard by a large lilac hedge. Lilacs will always have a very fond place in her memory. Soon her adventure-filled book The Great Lilac Forest will debut. It’s a must-have read for those who enjoy this genre. You won’t want to put it down, and it will have you on the edge of your seat. Watch for more soon.

Newsflash about Herman the Hermit Crab books by Cindy Hollingsworth:
In early July 2022, Cindy Hollingsworth read aloud her two hermit-crab books online for two sessions at Crab Con 2022, a worldwide hermit-crab convention for experts on hermit crabs, hermit-crab owners, hermit-crab enthusiasts, and the children of those adults registered for the convention. First she read aloud “Hermit the Hermit Crab” about helping Herman find the perfect new shell for his home. That same afternoon, she read aloud her exciting book “Herman the Hermit Crab—A Reel Dilemma,” in which her friend Mr. G accidentally caught Herman on his fishing line and then returned the hermit crab to his ocean home. Both stories actually took place at Oak Island, North Carolina. Anyone can now listen to Cindy read her two books aloud at the following YouTube address: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2En-Zqb1ZM She’s a delightful reader and will entrance listeners. Enjoy hearing about Herman and his adventures with the author and with Mr. G.

Paws and Claws Publishing is proud to announce that Cameron Pendergraft’s 6th picture book “Losing Titus” has debuted. This is a sensitive, heartwarming portrayal of a family dealing with the death of their beloved pet dog, as told by one of their sons. The stories about things Titus particularly enjoyed doing and how he demonstrated his joy are humorous. After his death, his family had a difficult time doing things Titus had relished. However, special reminders of their pet in photos, collars, stories, and favorite toys kept Titus alive in their memories. You can follow along on this family’s journey after the death of their loved dog and will relate if you’ve ever had a pet that died. “Losing Titus” is available on Amazon.com and on Barnesandnoble.com. Congratulations to Cameron on her new book!

Sam and Flam--Forever Friends

07/12/2022

I had a really good, relaxing, educational final day at Crab Con 2022 on Sunday. I got to attend several Sessions and Main Stage presentations. I learned many more things about hermit crabs, their care, their impacts on our planet and its ecology, hermit-crab enrichment and enrichment items (thank you, Dakota, for your entertaining Main Stage talk), Mary Akers’s final Main Stage talk of the day that brought me to tears and had scenery and photos and videos of crabs and background music that complemented her theme beautifully, Stacy Griffith’s final Sessions talk about her new hermit-crabs book and her journal, and the final farewell to all of us who were part of Crab Con 2022. By then, lots of people were crying. The fourth Crab Con went too fast. As a newbie to hermit crabs and Crab Con, I was overwhelmed by all I learned. Everyone involved shared their knowledge, expertise, advice, and videos of their hermit crabs in their crabitats in their homes freely. I’m delighted that I created a Q&A Session Sunday for those with questions related to writing, editing, and publishing. We met and talked during the afternoon. I returned to the session after the final farewell and met with more interested attendees. People asked thought-provoking and probing questions, listened well, and appeared to learn. I hope to follow up in the future with more conversations with some of them and to see manuscripts and/or books from some. Several are in various stages of being in the works. Signing off after my first day after Crab Con when I’m still letting all I learned and experienced sink in.-----Lynn Bemer Coble--Editor, Copy Editor, Writer, and Marketer for Paws and Claws Publishing, LLC
