🔴 New Conference. New Era. ⚫️

Highland basketball is entering its next chapter and the timing couldn’t be better. Coach Bill Logsdon has been named head coach of the Highland High School boys basketball program as the Bulldogs prepare for their move to the basketball-rich South 7 Conference.

A 2002 Ramsey High School graduate and former Blackburn College player, Coach Logsdon brings 24 years of leadership from the U.S. Army, most recently serving as a Company First Sergeant, along with deep roots in the local basketball community.

His impact in Highland is already well established. From 2021–2025, he coached with the Highland Junior Bulldogs and Highland Middle School programs, helping lead teams to a .800 winning percentage, an IESA State Runner-Up finish, multiple championships, and earning IESA District 19 4A Coach of the Year honors in 2024. This past season, he served as Assistant Head Coach and JV Coach at Highland High School.

Coach Logsdon brings a vision centered on fundamentals, defensive intensity, accountability, and building strong connections from youth basketball to the high school level.

“A strong basketball program brings a community together.”

He plans to engage players, families, alumni, and the community through camps, youth nights, and program events that build pride in Highland basketball.

We’re excited to see his leadership guide the Bulldogs into this new era.

Thank You, Coach Cunningham

Thank you to Coach Cunningham for his dedication to the Highland boys basketball program over the past seven seasons. We appreciate the time, effort, and commitment he gave to Highland basketball and wish him the best in his next chapter.

Coach Cunningham took over the program in 2019 from Brian Perkes and led the Bulldogs through seven seasons, including the shortened COVID season in 2020–21. During his tenure, he recorded 93 wins in 203 games as head coach and guided the program to a Regional Championship in 2024 and a Mississippi Valley Conference Championship in 2025. His 93 wins account for approximately 7% of the program’s total victories in its long history.

Highland boys basketball is one of the school’s original organized sports, with the program’s history dating back to 1909. As Highland prepares to move to the highly competitive South 7 Conference next season, just the sixth conference change in program history, the next head coach will face an exciting challenge against strong programs such as Mt. Mt Vernon, Marion and Carbondale.

🏈For the first time in 55 years, Highland High School will compete in a different conference come Fall. This is only the 6th conference affiliation for Highland in its 117 years of athletic history.

The 2026 schedule was released for football season. This upcoming season will be Highland’s 88th season playing football and they bring 45 winning seasons and 27 playoff appearances to the South 7.

Highland will compete in the South 7 Conference against Marion, Cahokia, Carbondale and Mt. Vernon.

The South 7 began in 1939 and has previously had other metro east schools in the conference including O’Fallon, Edwardsville and Althoff Catholic. Centralia is departing for the Cahokia Conference at the end of this year.

Year 2 of the Highland Sports Network is officially in the books, and what a season it was!

This year we had the privilege of showcasing Highland Bulldog football and basketball, bringing 46 games to our community. Even more exciting, we partnered with the WDOG Student Media Group, giving Highland High School students real, hands-on experience in sports broadcasting, production, and media. Watching students learn and grow while covering Bulldog athletics has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

We also made important advancements in streaming technology at HHS, helping build a stronger foundation for the future of Bulldog broadcasts.

None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our local sponsors. Their commitment allows us to keep these broadcasts free for our entire community, supporting student-athletes, their families, alumni, and Bulldog fans everywhere.
