Dixie Fried Fabrication is the result of 25 years of sheet metal fabrication experience earned by owning and running a variety of specialty fabrication shops. Brent Junkins, the owner, got his start working in the Air Force at Norton AFB in Southern California. First he was trained to maintain and repair all manner of military vehicles, and when he got out of the air force he moved on to working f
or Caterpillar, where he performed diagnosis and repair of all systems and engines. After a stint as the mechanic for a top gas dragster, he opened the first of his sheet metal fabrication businesses, Anshelm Arms. In a few years Brent decided to return to his first love, cars, and opened Savage Sand Cars. In 6 years he built a total of 35 frames, chassis, and turn-key cars, all out of a 1200 square-foot one man shop. Two Savage Sand cars were featured in Sand Sports Magazine, Nov/Dec. 2007. In 2008 he won a bid to design and build a sand car for Boeing Aircraft out of Palmdale, CA. To win the bid he built the demonstration car in 14 days from scratch, without shop assistance. In his minimal spare time, Brent gave in to his passion for aviation and obtained his private pilot’s license in 2002. That got him started on restoring, repairing, and building light aircraft. In 2006 he restored and flew his own Corbin “baby” Ace. Since then he’s worked on a wide variety of light aircraft, and is currently working on a Corbin Jr. Ace and a Pitt’s Special, an acrobatic biplane. Eventually, the sand car industry was derailed by the nation’s economic troubles, and the market dried up practically overnight. Brent realized it made good business sense to combine his years of different fabrication experiences under one banner, and Dixie Fried Fabrication was born. In 2011, under the Anshelm Arms brand, Brent was selected by Pilgrim Films to build all the armor for the History Channel TV series “Full Metal Jousting”. The shop built 16 full suits of armor in 4 different sizes and 8 kits of horse armor in a mere 13 weeks. It was a herculean effort, but once again Brent delivered on schedule, and on budget. The shop has operated out of the same block of the same industrial business complex that entire time, although we’ve moved a few feet up and down that block a few times, and now we’ve expanded to occupy 3 out of the 6 shops in that block. During our time of growth, we’ve invested in a variety of equipment to make the business more efficient and capable. After 25 years, we have established ourselves as sheet metal fabrication experts. We provide excellent service from drawing board to delivery. We’ve done it for hundreds of customers, and we can do it for you.
