The manhunt for 47-year-old Virgil Thew began following the discovery of three deceased persons at a residence in the City of New Lisbon on Monday, December 30. Since December 30, authorities have been searching for Thew in connection to the murders of a 33-year-old New Lisbon woman and two juveniles, ages 13 and 12. After nine days at large, authorities located Thew in the City of Elroy, and updates posted to the New Lisbon Police Department's page indicate Thew has been taken into custody. The Vernon County Sheriff's Office received reports at approximately 9:00P.M. on Monday, January 29, of a collision taking place in rural Hillsboro and involving an Amish buggy. The collision resulted in five injured persons, three of which were transported to Gundersen St. Joseph's in Hillsboro while two others were transported to the Richland Hospital. Two of the injured were later transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Madison Children's Hospital for further treatment. As of roughly 9:00P.M. on Wednesday evening, all injured persons have been released from the hospital and have returned home. Investigations into the accident remain ongoing. On December 6, concerned relatives of La Farge resident Holly Lynn Clark reported her as missing to the La Farge Police Department after Clark failed to report to work on December 5.
