Hi pals. What can I say? I'm not loving either the bad tweaks or owner's politics of this platform. Nevertheless, I'm trying to be better about getting posts posted in a semi-timely fashion!

So, there's still some time left for you to check out the show from 25 February 2025...the theme was TIME. And it's chock full of timely tunes from then and now. Lots of good, fun sounds to get you through this weekend's time change. DST WTF

And last night we enjoyed our 2nd Annual International Women's Month Songs of Inspiration featuring local music legend John Gillespie live in the studio with songs and musings with me about women in music. John always brings such enthusiasm for so many amazing women artists. Join us for this delightful, delovely deshow. It's up on the WHUP site until the 18th of this month.

Because this platform's stupid tweaks will remove this post if I link to the shows and/or paste the playlists within this message, I'll do that in the comments below. Thanks for reading about, listening to and sharing Gestalt of the Earth with your pals!

Hi folks. Tonight's show features a little something for everyone. Give it a tune in and share the word, if you please. To avoid getting my post taken down, tonight's playlist is in the comments.

Thanks and have a sweet Saint Valentine's Day and a swell week.

Here's a lovely triptych of two of tonight's artists, Norma Tanega and Dusty Springfield.

Hi pals. Happy New Year! I've been shy to use this platform as my posts kept being removed by Meta's AI overlords. Apparently, I just need to post the objectionable stuff...my playlists and links to the show in the comments. So that's what I'll try doing.

Longtime listeners know that in January, I dedicate as many shows as needed to offer a robust listen to musical artists from around the world who died in the previous year. This year is no exception, although I do feel that the recent peak in deaths leveled off from the past two years (maybe that was a COVID-ish bump?). We've done two shows so far, but I'm not sure if I'll raise enough folks from the 2024 dead to fill another three hours of show.

Nevertheless, you can enjoy six hours in homage to people who died last year (links below). Last night's show was particularly potent! Onward.

Thanks for liking, commenting and sharing!

Knowing that the way I’ve posted playlists for nine years now aggrieves Facebook to the point of deleting my posts, I invite you to HMU for any playlist you’d like.

In the meantime, this week we enjoyed a special in-studio guest, a name known far and wide, certainly east to west in Hillsborough, the remarkable Miss Margaret Lane!

And Miss Margaret Lane brought us a super real and/or surreal story gleaned from social media sources about the international goings on of the mystery band Loco Domingo and the alleged antics of it’s membership Pablo Rocky, Enrico Casio, Marius Callus and, while she steered, veered in fact, clear of self-implicating, Miss Margaret Lane her own self.

In this continuum of tale, punctuated by songs to ponder the story, we may be learning how this phoenix of funk rose from the ashes of the Thrift Bakery fire. Or not.

Find out or not at https://whupfm.org/episode/gestalt-of-the-earth-11-26-24.

Our next Tuesday is the beloved Thanksgiving Leftovers Show, during which I play songs I couldn’t fit into my other shows. Yum.

You can dig Loco Domingo’s “21st Century Dance Beats” here: https://locodomingo.fun

It’s hilarious that Facebook has invited me to share this celebration of our nine years together when, as of August, it refuses to allow my regular playlist posts to remain posted. Nor has Facebook yet responded to my repeated attempts to find resolution.

At any rate, thank you for your continuing support and happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!

Y’all. After each of my shows, in addition to tidying up, I spend another 30-60 minutes formatting and editing my playlists to post here. So I typically don’t leave the studio until 12:45 am at the earliest.

I’ve been doing this since 2016. Now, almost eight years later, Facebook feels I am posting spam and deleting my posts, with no way for me to retrieve their content. So that additional late-night time I’ve spent has been wasted.

At least this time, I was given the opportunity to request a review, although the options presented didn’t actually allow me to defend my present my case as accurately as I would have preferred.

I’m hoping if I prevail, this might help the algorithms to leave me alone. Regardless, I’m exploring other, more useful ways to share this information with you.

Thanks for understanding.
JC.

Well, I am getting an idea where my posts of 11 September 2024 went. Also, when I clicked the "See all" button, it did not show all and basically just stayed on this stupid, useless popup.

Why is Facebook removing my posts?

H/Ola, amigos/amigas! Tonight's theme was a bit of everything as this show is intended to be somewhat timeless...what the industry folks call an evergreen. It seemed like about time, as I've not done a real evergreen show in ages. And, of course, when I try to do one, I usually screw up and throw in some soon-to-be-belated time and/or seasonal reference. With the exception of a couple of beach songs (which could be for any time of year, really), it's fairly generic yet representative of the show.

Oh, those of you who pay close attention and hang on my every incorrect word will enjoy my goof late in the show...guess I was getting tired! I'd intended to play Steve and Shawn Colvin doing You're Still Gone and instead grabbed Steve and Lucinda doing You're Still Here. Funny. Heck, it's Tuesday so we'll just call it a Twofer Tuesday special with both of those tracks back-to-back! They're all great!

Of course, you should know that the next three editions of Gestalt of the Earth will be classics from the archives, thoughtfully hand selected by yours truly, while the missus and I take an Iberian siesta. Be good to yourselves while we're abroad and don't let the bad guys gain any ground! In the meantime, you can nevertheless enjoy this show for the next two weeks, until 27 August 2024, at https://whupfm.org/episode/gestalt-of-the-earth-8-13-24. Adios!

At last, back on track! It's stormy weather time with our first named storm of significance for the area: Debby (not to be confused with my sister Debi Clash). Tonight's show is designed to get you all ready for the impending mess (which already started today) and get you through it (as long as your power/internet access plays along). Here's hoping you'll weather the storm well. In the meantime, if this mostly mellow meditation on stormy things is your thing, enjoy this thing for the next two probably wettish weeks, until 20 August, 2024, at https://whupfm.org/episode/gestalt-of-the-earth-8-6-24. Be happy and safe!

So. I was still remiss last week. Why, you may wonder? What's your excuse this time? Well, I had a studio full of my most immediate family as they joined me to (fairly quietly) celebrate a family member's birthday (umm...that was me!) and they were ready to clear out of here stat! So we did. And I got busy (aka distracted). My sincere apologies. But at least you have another week to enjoy this fabulous birthday show.

Happy Birthday! Tonight's edition of the show celebrates birthdays, particularly mine! And all Leos (at least those born before this show expires on 13 August!). So if you're celebrating a birthday or know someone how is, play this show for 'em. Or, better yet, tell them that you made a substantial donation to WHUP in their honor and this show is their amazing birthday gift! Sure, it's a little white lie, but it's for the great good (and, if it eases your conscious, go ahead and donate to https://whupfm.org. Thanks!).

If you're not pulling a fast one on a loved one, or even if you are, enjoy this bountiful birthday show for two wonderful weeks, until 13 August 2024, at https://whupfm.org/episode/gestalt-of-the-earth-7-30-24. Happy Birthday (to me!) and have a great week!
