🚧 EXIT 1: THE FACTS, NOT FICTION
My opponent recently said:
“Through this campaign we the people have brought long-overdue attention to Exit 1. It had been ignored for far too long. Now, suddenly, leadership wants to wake up. That’s not leadership; that’s reaction.”
Let’s be clear — that statement simply isn’t true.
Exit 1 hasn’t been ignored. It’s been on the Public Service Authority (PSA) agenda nearly every month for the past four years.
We’ve worked it steadily, quietly, and responsibly — not for headlines, but for results.

1️⃣ The Pump Station Problem — FIXED ✅
When I took office four years ago, Carroll County was already under a DEQ compliance order for the pump station that serves the Love’s Truck Stop at Exit 1.
Neighbors had been asking for help for years — and nothing was done.
This Board tackled it head-on.
Today, that pump station is in full compliance, the odor issues are gone, and our PSA team continues maintaining it properly to keep it that way.
That’s real leadership — identifying a problem, fixing it, and keeping it fixed.

2️⃣ The $9 Million Infrastructure Project — Years in the Making
A $9 million project doesn’t just fall into place in 60 days.
It takes years of planning, engineering, funding strategies, and partnerships.
Our goal at Exit 1 is simple:
✅ Support existing residents
✅ Attract new businesses and jobs
✅ Grow our tax base without raising taxes
From the beginning, our plan was to do this through partnerships, not by saddling taxpayers with debt.
We’ve worked with Surry County and VDOT to share the cost. When VDOT unexpectedly withdrew, we went back to the drawing board — and we’re close to moving forward again.
Let’s be honest — Carroll County was never going to borrow $9 million, even at zero interest. Doing that would have meant a major tax increase for every citizen.
We chose the responsible path — progress without debt.
⸻
3️⃣ Building a Team Instead of Subcontracting It
Four years ago, the PSA had no field employees.
Every job was subcontracted at a high cost to taxpayers.
We changed that. We built a dedicated in-house team of hard-working men and women who now maintain our water and sewer systems right here in Carroll County — saving money and creating local jobs.
I will not tear these people down. They’ve done an amazing job and deserve our gratitude.
⸻
📅 Want to See for Yourself?
Don’t just take my word for it.
Come to a PSA meeting — the first Monday of each month at 5:15 PM.
The public is always welcome.
Ask about Exit 1.
You’ll see we’ve been working this project for years, not weeks.
⸻
Real Progress. Responsible Leadership.
Projects of this scale don’t happen overnight — but they are happening.
The groundwork has been laid, compliance issues fixed, and partnerships nearly finalized.
This is how real progress happens: steady work, not sound bites.
⸻
This is why we stand up. This is why we work together. This is progress — not politics. 🇺🇸
