The Panthers, who trailed much of the night, fell 20-19 to the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers on Friday night at Donell Woods Stadium. The loss dropped the Panthers to 1-3 on the season while the Bucs improved to 3-1.

Garden Club members dedicated a plaque and planted flowers in Melinda Schneider’s honor at the Butterfly Garden on the grounds of the Liberty County Community Complex.

It’s been nearly 11 months since the Liberty County Panthers took to the surface of Donell Woods Stadium/Kirk Warner Field for a home football game.

Officials cut the ribbon on the building, which is approximately 5,500 square feet, on September 3. The facility was built for just under $3 million, using proceeds from the special purpose local option sales tax.

Walthourville’s fire fee has been extinguished.
In a special called meeting September 2, Walthourville City Council voted 4-0 to abolish the fire fee it charged to Walthourville and Allenhurst residents, effective October 1.

In a 4-0 vote at the special called meeting, council members agreed to make payments of $200,000 on June 1, 2027 and $200,000 on December 1, 2027 to the affected members of the class and to make full settlement of the suit.
