Greenwood School District 50 is pleased to announce that heat and humidity conditions have improved, and we are returning to normal schedules for athletics, recess, and outdoor activities. 🎸 Join us for the 1st Annual Leon Everette's Fried Green Tomato Festival at the Leon Everette Music & Convention Center (157 W. Frontage Rd, Aiken, SC 29805, I-20 at Exit 22)!

Enjoy live music all day with performances by Anybody's Guess Band, Robbie Cockrell Band, and Leon Everette on the outdoor stage.

🍅 Vendors will offer homemade crafts, jewelry, candles, boiled peanuts, food, and of course, delicious FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!

🎁 Drawings and giveaways every 30 minutes, plus bouncy houses, a dunking booth, and kids' games. Outdoor fun runs from 12 PM to 6 PM, with all proceeds benefiting area churches. Don’t miss out!

🔥NEW ALL-TIME RECORD🔥

The Greenville-Spartanburg Airport has hit 90°F today, which is the 39th consecutive day of reaching or exceeding 90°F. This breaks the previous 90°F streak of 38 days, which was set in 1993. Historic heat has been in place for Summer 2025, but some relief is in site by this upcoming weekend!

‼️ A Storm Over Spartanburg Sure Packed a Punch!
A tree came down on a power line, causing a dramatic arc and small fire! 🔥

This was likely triggered by a violent downdraft as the storm collapsed.

📍 Happened at the end of Country Club Road near Glendale (East Side of Spartanburg).

Whew… Just crunched the numbers—this July ranks as the 3rd hottest on record at GSP, trailing only 1993 and 1986. And when looking at the entire summer? It’s the 5th warmest ever. 🥵 No doubt about it… this heat has been relentless. A brief break is coming this weekend, and I am so ready!
