Yesterday the Duster One Act cast and crew traveled to Valentine for their conference competition and despite their early success this season, they came out feeling defeated after placing 8th place out of 9 competitors.
Alexis Gill, casted as Guard 1, stated, “We had the best crowd reaction all season, we were told how amazing we did in critiques, and then we were ranked poorly,” Alexis continued by saying, “With the excellent cast that we do have, it's disheartening to do so well at the beginning of the year and then go to conference and get what we felt was an unfairly judged placement.” From here, the One Act cast and crew are going to move forward, hoping to succeed at their next competitions so they can secure a spot for State.

Duster Cross Country competed at Conference last Thursday. Both the girls and boys teams did well, and the boys even brought home a third place victory in a loaded conference! Athletes Nik Schrock, Justin Golus, and Brady Vanboening placed individually as well.

“I recommend Concordia because of the community the campus has. If you don’t want to be known or cared about this college is not for you. As a student you get to know most your classmates and professors. You will thrive in this small community,” explains a Concordia representative at the 2022 Holdrege Area EPP.
Seniors and Juniors of the surrounding towns: Alma, Loomis, Bertrand, and Elm Creek met in the Holdrege High School gym last Tuesday morning for a college fair. Students get the opportunity to visit each of the 39 college booths to learn more about what opportunities each college provides. If you are interested in the booth you visited, the college representative will scan a barcode each student was given and will later receive an email from that college. This college fair is beneficial to kickstarting your college journey and have colleges looking out for your academic and athletic achievements.

Low-Income Individuals Panic as Food Prices Surge
Jerzie Vap - Holdrege Digital Journalism Staff
Despite inflation marginally decreasing, the price of common food items are skyrocketing, hitting low-income individuals the hardest.
The price of groceries is a defining factor in how people are able to cope with inflation. Food inflation impacts those with low incomes more than others because most of their already small budgets go to food. Numerous staple foods have had the greatest increases in price, such as dairy, meat, eggs, and bread, leading to those with low incomes buying less food, which typically leads to lower health. The surge in prices have led low-income people to tighten their budgets further, often causing them to neglect areas in their life that they deem less important, such as health care, while simply trying to survive.
Although food inflation is a hardship for many, it seems that relief may be coming as agricultural, dairy, egg, and poultry prices appear to be going down. We can only hope that consolation is near for those struggling the most.
Here is how your will line up tonight versus Sidney.
Storm start quick and stay hot through first week of action.
In their regular season debut, the Holdrege-Adams Central Liberty Storm secured their first two victories of the year versus visiting Alliance and Hershey. The co-oped team found success with Isabel Raburn on the mound and a trio of hitters in Alivia Gerloff, Abbey Fish, and Raburn.
The Storm carried their first day of success into Saturday and finished runner-up in the Lexington tournament. On their way to the championship, the girls downed Chadron and Lexington before falling to Scottsbluff in the championship game. HAC’s leadership seems to be on point early in the season. “When even one person is positive, it gets the rest of the team pumped up and ready to go until we are all on fire and ready to go,” Raburn said.
The Storm will travel to Lexington again on the 23rd for a rematch with the Minutewomen. The first game ended with HAC rallying for a 6-4 victory after trailing 4-1 at the end of the 4th inning.
“If there was one thing that you are going to take away from high school, it should be this. Love everyone like Mr. Bailey did. Hold a forgiving heart like Mr. Bailey did. Show compassion and care for one another. And above all, love one another deeply because love covers a multitude of sins.” This Sunday the class of 2022 graduated. After a long four years we thank you for your time and dedication. We hope you are successful with your new journey. Congratulations!
