Moyamoya disease, first identified in Japan in 1957, is a rare cerebral vascular disorder characterized by narrowed brain blood vessels. The term 'Moyamoya' translates to 'Puff of Smoke' in Japanese. With a prevalence of 1 in 1,100,000, this condition is exceedingly rare in the United States. Constricted blood vessels impede blood flow, potentially triggering migraines and other symptoms, and increasing susceptibility to brain hemorrhage and stroke.
