My theory on why the penny is no longer being made.

Abraham Lincoln is known for leading the United States through the Civil War, preserving the Union, and abolishing slavery through the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment. He is also remembered for his eloquent speeches, such as the Gettysburg Address, and his leadership during a critical time in American history.

The 13th Amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude in the United States, except as a punishment for a crime. Ratified in December 1865, it was a direct result of the Civil War and Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, aiming to permanently end the institution of slavery under federal law. Section 2 of the amendment gives Congress the power to enforce it through legislation.
