Still feeling inspired from the Women’s Leadership Luncheon at the YMCA ✨

It was an honor to moderate this event for the second year in a row and hear such powerful stories and perspectives from our panelists.

I also loved seeing so many male allies in the audience 👏 asking thoughtful questions and joining the conversation — progress happens when everyone shows up.

Grateful to for always supporting opportunities that help strengthen and give back to the communities we serve.

Happy Women’s History Month!

I’m passionate about advancing women and girls, so I’m thrilled to have moderated this panel, which focused on the journeys of four incredible women. I’m proud to help the launch their first employee resource group dedicated to this mission.

With my baby girl arriving just two weeks ago, empowering women has taken on an even deeper meaning for me. Thank you to the YMCA for the opportunity to be part of this incredible journey! 💜💪🏾👑

Recently, I was asked to speak at our companywide conference, Unlocking Our Potential. Which brought in our team members from across the country! This opportunity meant so much to me and it was invaluable to get collaborate with so many great minds.

Getting to do this 8 months pregnant was a blessing and I can’t wait to show my babygirl this when she is older. 💖🌸👑💪🏾

Mayor Sarno Elated Springfield’s own Ruth E. Carter wins Oscar for Costume Design for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno was elated watching Springfield’s own Ruth E. Carter win the Oscar nomination for Best Costume Design for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. Carter, a Springfield Technical High School graduate, previously won her first Oscar in 2019 for Best Costume Design in ‘Black Panther’. By winning her second Oscar she became the first Black woman to win two Oscars. In winning her record setting award, she dedicated the moment to her mother, Mrs. Mabel V. Carter, who had just recently passed away at 101.

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to Springfield’s own Ruth E. Carter on winning her Oscar award last night – a record setting Oscar too! She not only continues to make herself and her family proud, but our city of Springfield is proud of her too. It was heartfelt and touching watching her win and dedicate that moment to her wonderful mother who had just recently passed away. It is bittersweet and our sympathy, thoughts and prayer go out to her and her family on the loss of her beautiful mom who now looks down upon her from heaven with a smile.”
