More Than Medicine

Today’s project begins.

Birds are the theme this time. My mother has always loved cardinals, and really, all birds. Their songs, colors, and quiet presence have always brought her joy. That love inspired me to create something comforting and meaningful in her honor.

As I work through each step, I find myself thinking about the people who shape us, encourage us, and teach us to appreciate the simple beauty around us. This chair is more than fabric, wood, and staples. It is a reflection of memories, love, and gratitude.

Cardinals are often said to remind us that those we love are never far away. Whether that is true or not, they certainly have a way of making us pause, smile, and feel connected to something bigger than ourselves.

Sometimes healing isn’t found in medicine, appointments, or treatments. Sometimes it is found in creating with our hands, remembering with our hearts, and sharing a little piece of ourselves with someone we love.

My medicine comes with four legs and a quiet soul. 🐴❤️

Despite my allergies to dust mites, grass, hay, and all the things that come with spending time at the barn, this is still where I find healing.

The world seems to slow down when I’m with my horses. The worries of the day become a little lighter, the noise fades, and what matters most comes back into focus. There is something special about the bond between a horse and the person who loves them. They don’t ask for explanations, they don’t judge, and somehow they always know exactly what we need.

For me, the barn isn’t just a place. It’s therapy, it’s peace, it’s perspective, and it’s home.

Sometimes the best medicine isn’t found in a bottle. Sometimes it’s found in a dusty arena, beneath a blue sky, with a horse by your side. 🤎🐴✨

The barrel horse community is grieving after the senseless injury of three innocent horses in Las Vegas. Our horses trust us completely and give their hearts every time they enter the arena. Today, we stand with the owners, riders, veterinarians, and all those affected by this tragedy. Wishing Detail, Sully, and Rocket a full recovery and hoping for healing for everyone impacted by this heartbreaking event. 🐎❤️

The district attorney’s office said the next hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, and a certification hearing will be set for a later date, when a judge will decide whether the case should proceed in the adult criminal justice system.

6/2/26 Prosecutors Seek Adult Certification for Teen Accused in Las Vegas Horse Stabbing Case

The Clark County District Attorney’s Office announced that prosecutors are seeking adult certification for the 17-year-old accused of stabbing three horses at the Las Vegas barrel racing event. A certification hearing is expected, where a judge will decide whether the case should proceed in the adult criminal justice system.

According to reports, District Attorney Steve Wolfson said the allegations meet Nevada’s threshold for seeking adult treatment because they involve alleged deliberate acts of extreme cruelty and significant impact on the victims and the equestrian community.

If the defendant faces adult felony charges rather than juvenile delinquency proceedings,
convictions could result in state prison time instead of juvenile detention.
The person could end up with a permanent adult criminal record, which can affect employment, housing, education, and other opportunities. Adult court proceedings are generally more public than juvenile cases, which are often confidential.
