The last few days of nice warm sunny weather have definitely made the grass grow, so today we worked the rest of the cows had a good crew. All went very well and hauled two groups out to pasture and drove one group to another field so no more feeding hay for the season!

Had a little cattle drive the other day moved all of the mothers and babies to a new piece of ground that’s clean and out of the mud still pretty wet kicked up a little flock of ducks on the way in, but everybody’s happy now.

she's a good mom and the calf is healthy and strong.

Mothers and babies are enjoying the new pasture. As the cows calve I move them to a different field that’s clean. This one has a lot of trees in it which the calves like.

No April fooling for these ladies. 😁 Two more babies on the ground this morning. This makes our fourth set of two in one day.
Thankfully these calves are vigorous and up and nursing on their own.
No intervention necessary. That's the way we like it!

The amount of agland we are losing on the peninsula to housing development makes your head spin. 😔

I don't know the answers...
Some AG programs exist but landowners aren't interested in doing the paperwork to preserve their area, and ag-minded buyers can't afford to pay subdivision prices.

I do know at this rate there could come a time it's going to be really hard to find locally grown meat because there will be no fields left to feed them.

Throwback to 2023. After a reasonably mild winter March dumped on us.
The bitter cold this winter has had its challenges, but we sure don't miss this!
