Latest update. I want to be as straight and direct as possible, specific to Crystal River. I do not like to hype things up. I was on the state EOC call today, have been briefed by numerous folks that are experts in the storm and flooding fields, and have looked at a ton of data. As much as I continue to hope and wish that the surge estimates will come down, that is just not happening. The National Hurricane center has just released new numbers, now showing a maximum surge potential in our area of between 12’ and 18’. The folks at the state are adamant that they believe because of the size, strength and approach of this storm, that we will see historic coastal flood surges, especially in the nature coast area. The maximum projected storm surge for our area now shows between 12 and 18 foot. While I have a hard time wrapping my head around those figures, that is what the data is showing. Those are catastrophic numbers for Crystal River. The reason I am telling you this is not to spread fear, but this is not the one to risk being in a structure that is subject to flood with those projection figures. I hope and pray that somehow, someway, all of these surge models are incorrect, but it is my responsibility to make sure you know and understand that is the forecast. As much as I want it to be different, unfortunately the data is what it is. Protect yourself and your family and do the right thing. With that bad news said, know this; No matter what happens with this storm, Crystal River will be OK. Our homes and businesses may flood, but as is every time, we will make it through. My heart breaks for those that have continued to have their homes and businesses flood, and my prayers are with you. We will get through it, we are a strong community. Be safe, hope for the best but please prepare for the worst. We will keep you posted.

We had the honor of welcoming Governor Ron DeSantis to Citrus County, where he announced a major grant for infrastructure development at the Holder Industrial Park site! I still remember those early meetings back in 2018, discussing the zoning of the acreage and envisioning its potential. Seeing the vision move closer to reality is truly exciting!
Holder Industrial park is a game-changer for our community. This development will pave the way for new businesses to set up shop right here, bringing high-quality manufacturing jobs and boosting economic growth in Citrus County. Imagine the possibilities: more local job opportunities, higher wages, and a thriving economy that benefits all of us!
The grant will help lay the foundation for a brighter future, where our community can attract major industries and create a robust job market. It's not just about building infrastructure; it's about building a better life for our families and future generations.
Thank you, Governor DeSantis for your support and commitment to our county's growth and prosperity. Together, we are making Citrus County a destination for business, innovation, and opportunity. The future is bright! 🌟
