📡 800 MHz Radios for First Responders 🚒👮

Thanks to a $48,000 investment from Hurricane Helene funds, both our Fire and Police Departments have received brand-new 800 MHz walkie-talkies to better serve and protect our community.

• 🚒 Fire Department – 13 new radios
• 👮 Police Department – 17 new radios

These upgraded radios will improve communication, safety, and coordination during emergencies — ensuring our first responders have the tools they need when every second counts.

We are grateful for this investment in Honea Path’s safety and future! 💙

🌳 Family Roots in Honea Path 🌳

This past weekend, the Lewis Family traveled from Delaware to celebrate their reunion and reconnect with their heritage here in Honea Path.

Their journey led them to Cedar Grove Baptist Cemetery, where they discovered the resting places of ancestors dating back to the 1800s. They also located the exact address where their grandmother, Hather Lewis, was born and raised in 1925. Hather, daughter of George James Oscar Lewis, recently passed away just shy of her 100th birthday. The family paused there to honor her memory. 💙

Wanting to learn more, they visited Town Hall—where their path crossed with ours. We were grateful to share a bit of Honea Path history, including the story of the historic Chiquola Mill, and to provide them with T-shirts as a reminder of the town that holds their roots.

It’s always an honor when families return to Honea Path to discover their story and carry it forward.
