Before and after - Edro III
The Edro III is a cargo ship that ran aground near the Sea Caves in Peyia, Cyprus, on December 8, 2011, during a voyage from Limassol to Rhodes.
Built in 1966 and flying the Sierra Leone flag, the ship encountered engine failure amid rough weather, causing strong winds to push it onto the rocky coastline. Fortunately, all nine crew members, including the captain, were safely rescued by the Cyprus Coast Guard.
Although efforts to salvage the ship were deemed impractical due to high costs and environmental concerns, authorities ensured that all fuel and hazardous materials were removed to prevent ecological damage. Today, the rusting vessel remains stranded on the rocks, becoming a popular tourist attraction and photography spot, particularly at sunrise and sunset, blending maritime history with the natural beauty of the Mediterranean coast.
