After years of putting others first, carrying responsibilities, and navigating life’s challenges, I realized I needed a space to share my story—and maybe help others feel a little less alone.

This podcast was born from a desire to have honest conversations about healing, self-growth, life lessons, family, community, and finding peace in the middle of life’s ups and downs.

Episode 1 is deeply personal because I’m sharing why I decided to start Anela’s Room Podcast and what I hope this journey will become.

If you’ve ever felt exhausted, unappreciated, or like you’re searching for something more meaningful in life, this episode is for you.

Thank you for joining me as we begin this new chapter together. 🌺🎙️

Listen now and let’s start this journey—one story at a time.

For the longest time, I was the person who always put others first.

I was always there whenever someone needed help. Whether it was family, friends, coworkers, or even strangers, I would do my best to support them. I gave my time, my energy, my resources, and sometimes even sacrificed my own happiness just to make sure everyone else was okay.

I thought that was what being a good person meant.

But over the years, I slowly realized something.

While I was busy taking care of everyone else, I forgot to take care of myself.

I ignored my own needs. I postponed my own dreams. I stayed in situations that drained me because I didn’t want to disappoint anyone. I kept saying “yes” when deep inside I wanted to say “no.”

And little by little, I became exhausted.

Not because I regretted helping people, but because I realized I had been giving from an empty cup.

One day, I asked myself a difficult question:

“When was the last time I chose myself?”

And honestly, I couldn’t remember.

That’s when I realized that choosing yourself isn’t selfish.

Setting boundaries isn’t selfish.

Protecting your peace isn’t selfish.

Prioritizing your mental health isn’t selfish.

In fact, it’s necessary.

Because if you’re constantly pouring into others without refilling yourself, eventually you’ll have nothing left to give.

So now, I’m learning something new.

I’m learning to say no without feeling guilty.

I’m learning to rest when I’m tired.

I’m learning to chase my own dreams and not just help others chase theirs.

I’m learning that my happiness matters too.

The truth is, I can still be kind. I can still help people. I can still love deeply.

But I no longer have to sacrifice myself in the process.

After years of prioritizing everyone else, I’m finally learning to prioritize me.

And for the first time in a very long time, it feels like I’m finally coming home to myself. ❤️
