I’ve officially hit two months as a missionary a couple days ago! I still feel like the same me but with just a greater knowledge and hope of Jesus Christ! Every morning we have an hour of personal study. I’ve been reading two chapters a day in The Book of Mormon, a few pages in Preach My Gospel (missionary guide basically haha) and some Come Follow Me (Old testament study my church is doing this year). That one hour morning study is the biggest life hack. Setting apart an hour a day to learn and talk to God. If you wanna feel more peace and EXCITEMENT in your life, try it out and read the good word! 🙏

I got transfer news... this means I could be staying in the same area or go to a completely new place! It honestly feels like a mini mission call. The missionaries sent out the transfer board at 7:30 am Monday and... I will be staying in Vancouver!!! 🥳I’m actually so pumped! I’m also getting a new trainer! I’m sure gonna miss Elder Meldrum! He’s moving 16 hours away. 😪

Thing’s I’ve been loving:
- Just Ingredients chocolate protein powder (been having this every day for breakfast in my oats)
- Getting invited to dinner! We have got the NICEST people in our area! They take such good care of us 🙏
- Costco food court runs

Spiritual thought:
Some days aren’t always the best and I can get feeling real down about life and the situations I’m in, but remembering that that Jesus knows how I feel and that he’s there for me makes me feel so much better! I love this scripture in Alma! It’s in chapter 7 (one of the only scriptures I actually know where it’s at bc it makes 7/11 haha there’s a new blood orange slurpee that just released here so we gotta try it sometime!) Back to the scripture:

Just another birthday without my twin brother... 😭 Nahhh it was so nice to celebrate just me! Jk! I’m a lil sad I didn’t get to celebrate with Brock in person! It was a good birthday nonetheless!

Here’s my list of fun moments from the week!

B-DAY:

- Made carmel popcorn for district council! It’s super easy! I’ll leave the recipe below!
- Turned 22! Got to FaceTime the fam! We went to an Indian restaurant and my comp ordered a dish that had peanuts in it (which he didn’t know and is allergic to) luckily we found out before he ate it. This other Sister in our district ordered butter chicken and she’s allergic to cashews. Turns out everything at this restaurant has cashews and the cashews are made in peanut oil allegedly. So that wasn’t too fun... 🥲 The butter chicken was SO good though!
- My comp and I had to step outside of a meeting to take a call and I saw this box of diet dp! I wanted one so bad! I looked closer and saw that it was for me! My family friend parents live in Washington and drove across the border to drop it off! BEST BDAY PACKAGE!!! I got tons of good candy that I’ll be sharing for the next couple of weeks haha!

The rest of the week:

- Three of our friends are getting baptized in the next few weeks! 🙏
- Did some comp study at five guys and it made me realize how much good food can affect your mood! I told my companion that we really need to start prioritizing our dinner times haha!
- We were at dinner with this family that goes to our church and their son mentioned that he served a mission, I asked where and he said Hong Kong! I told him I had a cousin serve there and it was a few years ago. He said same! Come to find out he lived in the same apartment as my cousin Connor! It was so cool to hear! 🙌
- One of my favorite things as a missionary is 1 seeing people learn about Jesus for the first time and 2 good food! The best dopamine hits fr!

Feeling extra grateful for missionaries today! About 3 years ago I was first called to serve in the Fortaleza, Brazil Mission. I was so excited about where I was assigned. About 2 months in, I was dealing with gallbladder attacks and came home shortly after. A couple months later I was reassigned to serve in the Boston Massachusetts Mission. Even though I was so bummed about having to go somewhere else and not having the “cool Brazil experience” it all worked out in ways I could’ve never imagined. I was able to become fluent in Portuguese (which I thought would never happen while serving in the states), I made lifelong friends and got to see so many people come closer to Jesus Christ! It would’ve been nice to come home from my mission with a gallbladder but hey…

”… we know that all things work together for good to them that love God” Romans 8:28

Everything worked together for good. And it always will because of Jesus Christ!

Anyways, while leaving Brazil we bumped into a missionary that was just about to leave for the field. We invited him to get some food with us. While eating we bumped into another missionary heading home after being in Brazil for 2 years. We got to feed them both and hear about their mission experiences.

Missions give us the opportunity to grow so much… in literally all ways!! It was so cool hearing the testimony’s of the missionaries. It made me so excited for Boston and everything he’s been doing. Boston has absolutely loved Canada. He’s already made so much growth.

Boston has an awesome email I’ll be sharing on this Tuesday!!! Stay tuned and have a blessed Sunday!

The coolest thing happened this week! I went on exchanges with Elder Glass (one of the other Elders in my zone) and while we were meeting with people, I got a text on WhatsApp from my cousin in Chile!🤯 He has been teaching this guy for some time, and the guy is moving to Vancouver! MY CITY! My cousin took a pic with him a few days ago and I saw him at my church this Sunday!

Random moments:
- Officially moved out of our old apartment
- Got to visit the Vancouver, Temple
- Got in a little car accident (we are all good! Just a dang pole in a parking garage... 🙄)
- The power went out at the church so we missed some of the good food at Institute
- Go to see Elder Durtschi at the new missionary meeting! The senior missionaires made homeade Cafe Rio salads for everyone 🔥
- Mother’s Day! Got to call my Mom and the rest of the family!

One thing I love about Vancouver is meeting so many people from so many faiths! Every conversation I’ve learned something new! It reminds me of this scripture I love.

2 Nephi 31: “For my soul delighteth in plainness; for after this manner doth the Lord God work among the children of men. For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding; for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding”

Hope you all have a great week! Also if you got any good recipes send them my way! The sisters have been making some really good desserts so we gotta pay them back somehow haha 😂

It’s official! I’m down one month being a missionary. It’s crazy how fast time flies jeez!

We had a fun p-day (preperation day) last Tuesday. We stocked up with things from Costco and had lunch at the food court. You can’t beat the $1.50 hotdog and drink combo. It’s also cheaper here than in the USA. So to me it’s $1.10 haha! We went golfing with a few people from our zone.

We were walking back home from some planning and saw this big moving truck parked outside of our apartment. We went over and saw some missionaires from our same apartment complex helping this lady. We all jumped in and cleared the moving truck in like 30 minutes! She was so grateful and we were stoked because it was something fun for us to do!

We had a few teaching lessons this week and they went great. I spend about an hour every morning studying the Book of Mormon, Bible, confrence talks and Preach My Gospel (our missionary book). It really is so crazy that the things I study in the morning have come up as a topic in our lessons. It’s actually so wild!

Things I’ve been loving:

- Talking to people about life and getting to know their story! We’ve ran into so many people from different faiths/backgrounds. It just shows to me that God is involved in everyone’s lives. 2 Nephi 31:3 “...For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding; for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding.” That verse just makes me smile.

- Krispy Kreme! Those glazed donuts are always sounding so good.

- Gas station drinks! The only downfall is the paper straws...😪 Introduced my Canadian comp to BevFix and I think he’s a fan of it haha

-My roomates! There is a totaly of four of us. Two of them are from Utah and the other is from Canada. We get along real well and are always down for a good time. Our conversations at night are the funniest. I’m already sad thinking about how in a couple weeks we are going to have to say goodbye.

- Finally got a sense of direction and know how to navigate the train station 👀 I’m officially a city slicker!

- The weather has been PEAK it’s been in the 70⁰’s.

That’s all… until next week🥳
