Osborn Hill’s K–2 students showed us that big lessons can come from even the smallest voices during their Flagman assembly.

With help from Fairfield first responders and CT DOT highway workers, students learned who works along our roads and why giving them space matters. Through simple stories and real-life examples, we explored slowing down, moving over, and how being an attentive, confident passenger can help keep everyone safe—no matter your age.

What an incredible day at Osborn Hill School
Team Flagman was honored to spend the day alongside Fairfield first responders and Department of Transportation workers, engaging K–5 students in a powerful, hands-on conversation about who works on our roadsides—and why their jobs are so dangerous.

Students learned about the real risks faced by police officers, firefighters, EMS, tow operators, and highway workers every single day, and why the Slow Down, Move Over (SDMO) law is so critical to keeping roadside heroes safe.

The Even more inspiring was seeing how quickly young people embraced their role as Active Passengers—learning that they do have a voice and can advocate for safer driving by speaking up, staying alert, and encouraging the adults in their lives to slow down and move over.

The curiosity, compassion, and leadership shown by these students was truly moving. This is how safer roads begin—through education, awareness, and communities coming together.

Thank you to Honda for making this lifesaving education program possible. Your support allows Flagman to bring first responders, highway workers, and students together to create safer roads for all road users.

Today was a reminder that when communities work together, lives are saved.

Flagman is back in Connecticut—and the mission is personal.

Created in honor of Corey Iodice, this movement brings first responders, highway workers, and students together to protect Roadside Heroes and change behavior where it matters most—on the road.

These assemblies are fast-paced, powerful, and unforgettable—because they’re built on real lives, real loss, and real responsibility.

The work moves forward when communities work together.

Join the movement.
Stand with Roadside Heroes.
