Okay I always try to stay positive and stay out of drama. But I wanted to weigh in about the bashing of JoKoy because I don’t think people are seeing the whole story, just the end result.
If you haven’t heard by now Jokoy hosted the Golden Awards on Monday, January 8, 2024. The host’s job is to move the night along with humor which sometimes calls for bringing out the best and worst side of Hollywood celebrities in a sarcastic yet funny way through a stand up comedic style.

Well according to the masses JoKoy bombed and failed. Many are saying he wasn’t funny at all.

But I ask you to look at the back story before making your own judgement call.

JoKoy was the 11th hour draft pick for this role. Because big comedian/hosts declined to do this gig, Jokoy accepted this challenging daunting hosting task and only had 10 days to prepare. Most hosts get months to prepare, try out their material and perfect it. Not only did JoKoy only have 10 days to prepare, the powers that be told him he cannot swear (which is a given), he has to run all his jokes by them first and get it approved, AND he cannot do any Asian accents. So basically they striped away JoKoy’s entire persona and style as a comedian.

Being a DJ/Entertainer myself I probably would have turned down the gig, but I am sure in JoKoy’s eyes this was an opportunity of a lifetime.

Now I am quite disappointed with Taylor Swift for not being a good sport to Jokoy's NFL joke. JoKoy is not hating on her this kind of comedy skits usually happen in an event like this. The joke was pointing out facts that any NFL Game Taylor is at they cut to her a lot showing her expressions. I am probably going to get heat from the Swifties, but Taylor you are in the entertainment business one of the most beloved singers of our time, of course you are going to be the punch line of a joke or made fun of, that comes with the business. Smile and enjoy the ride. The look you had when JoKoy made the joke prompted and triggered the Swifties to attack JoKoy. Be the bigger person and smile. JoKoy was not being a bully it was a fact that was made into a light hearted joke. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Well regardless of his predicament, I saw the effort and passion of Jokoy.

I'm very proud of JoKoy not just because of him being the first Filipino-American to host Golden Globes, but also for being a professional and dedicated artist to his craft, going against the odds, and giving his 110%!

As 2023 comes to end I want to take this time to say that I am so grateful for many things in 2023 one of them is Jojo becoming my roommate… LOL!

He graduated Crusader Strong class of 2023 and officially started his company Jojo Flow LLC, and became the youngest Club DJ in Hawai’i. I was able to successful continue the growth of the Maryknoll Creative Media program (big things happening with that in 2024 stay tuned for that).

I am very thankful for my health, as you get older you realize everyday is a gift… and that tomorrow is never promised.

Thank you to all that continue to support my mission to be the difference for our youth and a mentor for the young leaders of tomorrow.
