🚨 HAWAI‘I EXCLUSIVE — TODAY AT 4 PM HST 🇺🇸🌺

What happens when education decisions move out of Washington and back to the states, local communities, educators and parents?

Today on The RIGHT Side: A Commonsense Conversation, Gina Crabtree sits down with Julie Hartman of the U.S. Department of Education for an exclusive Hawai‘i interview about the Trump Administration’s effort to sunset the federal education bureaucracy — and what comes next.

We’ll discuss Returning Education to the States, parental rights, federal enforcement actions and the question that matters here at home:

🌺 What could all of this mean for Hawai‘i’s schools, parents and keiki?

There’s plenty of commentary about this issue. Today, hear directly from the U.S. Department of Education.

🌀☔️🔥WHAT HAPPENS TO FEDERAL RELIEF FUNDS?

Governor Josh Green is once again asking the federal government for help — this time requesting a Presidential Emergency Declaration following Hurricane Lala.

Hawai‘i has turned to federal assistance following major disasters before — from the Lahaina wildfires to Kona Low storms. Earlier this year, the state received a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration following the March Kona Low.

Now, just months later, we’re asking Washington for help again.

Federal disaster aid exists for a reason. But with Hawai‘i repeatedly facing hurricanes, flooding, wildfires and other natural disasters, should we also be asking whether our state is doing enough BEFORE disaster strikes?

Are we investing enough in infrastructure, drainage, emergency preparedness and mitigation — or has Hawai‘i become too dependent on Washington to help pick up the pieces afterward?

🚨 A FAUCI ADVISER JUST PLEADED GUILTY.

Dr. David Morens, a former senior adviser to Dr. Anthony Fauci at NIAID, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States in a case involving efforts to conceal federal records related to COVID-19 research grants.

Fauci was not charged in the case — but the guilty plea raises new questions about transparency during the pandemic.
