Really well done. I love the new laser interpretation and icons. Hopefully someday we get an explanation for each to continue telling Mike’s story. Pulled the trigger on a pair on sale. When I first picked it up I was trying to bend back the back tab and was surprised to see it’s stitched onto the shoe. I’ve always appreciated Mike’s pair for his 40th birthday from Mark Smith from afar. At least we get something close. Maybe I should pull the trigger on the 1s since they’re a pack. Anyone seen them under $100 🫣

Ahh the “Space Jam” 9. I’m sure some of you hate that nickname but facts are facts 🤣. MJ wore them in the movie. Technically they released a few years prior to the movie but it’s undeniable now that they’re here. When do the Bill Murray Space Jam 2s release?! Or the Air Max Triax (for the sneaker nerds 🤓 IYKYK)

Quality control on this pair seems to be up to par. I didn’t see any excess glue marks, bad stitching, etc. Everything looks clean even down to the box which the brand paid tribute to upon the 30th anniversary of Space Jam. Remember when Jordan Brand released MJ’s Space Jam jersey? I believe it was for the 20th anniversary. Would’ve been perfect with this release to bring them back.

I love that the sparkle is all throughout the nubuck. Jumpman faces toward the toe and the shape of the shoe and quality of the leather is decent. If you’re scooping up a pair, true to size is the way to go. I’ll be grabbing these no doubt! I do own the OG as well as the 2002 retro so it’s been some time since I’ve reupped.

The 2021 Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Freeze Out is probably the most controversial Air Jordan to ever release. At a time when “rumors” circulated that these pairs were backdoored and heavily faked, it made it rather difficult to source from the marketplace. Because of the controversy, it was a pair that many have consistently stayed away from.

Five years ago that was the case for me. Then there was the introduction of the friends and family with blue laces. I ended up saving that story Marcus Jordan sent out because I knew one day I’d try to acquire this pair. After all the careful research, the constant articles, photos, videos, legit check apps and close to the heart friends and family, I finally pulled the trigger. I’ve wanted this shoe since it was first introduced but because of all the inhibiting factors, it took awhile but I finally said yes. I love the story, the concept, the “game ticket”, the frosted upper to signify the MJ being “frozen out” by his peers and the signature at the heel. There are 12,000 pairs and I now own 3,581.

Big shouts to UPPER EMPIRE for the negotiation. A collection piece that pairs nicely to MJ’s 1985 All-Star game jersey.

More shots of the WearTesters x SERIOUSPLAYERONLY Player 1.5 from Nightwing2303. I feel funny reviewing my friend’s actual sneaker but as honest as he is, I need to with mine 😜.

Chris brought in the sample he tested and made the necessary changes to create the final product. A few things he pointed out was the change from a translucent outsole to solid rubber. In his videos, he usually states that translucent outsoles cause slippage on court. While he didn’t experience that in the test run, he wanted to be absolutely sure it didn’t long term which I thought was a great choice. Upon trying them on, you can immediately tell that the traction and grip is going to be pretty beastly.

The second change you’ll notice is the heel cup design going from a TPU heel counter to a carbon fiber one and transitioning from synthetic leather to a microfiber synthetic suede. It’s kinda reminiscent of the AJ 13 which adds a luxurious touch to it. Then there’s a nod to his roots growing up in the Bay Area on the left shoe while the right shoe nods to Sacramento where he currently resides. The carbon fiber heel colors pay tribute to the Bay Bridge in SF and the Tower Bridge in Sac with his wife’s writing on the heel which is a saying he does on the intro and outro of his videos.

“Hey, what’s good guys….Have a good one.”

The Weartesters logos are donned on the medial side of the shoes near the ankles. He said it was tough to emulate the blur effect that is captured in the intro of his videos so ultimately went with some color design changes between the left and right shoe.

As far as the tech components of the shoes are concerned, it houses a rigid carbon fiber plate, Flywire-like cables throughout a Fuse-like upper along with that breathable tongue and drop-in Explosive 2.0 midsole. He wanted to keep the shoe light for performance and I thought he made some excellent choices overall.

This could’ve easily been one of the next Kobe’s and the fit is pretty much identical. For me, going up a have size was necessary but I know Chris loves his 1:1 snug fit. I couldn’t do it. I need to wiggle my toes to still know they exist 😆. Overall it’s really a great shoe. Congrats again!

One more week until the Tour Yellow 4s drop. Here I brought in my 2006 pair to the shop to show the fam the difference 20 years makes. Age, shape, color and material of the wings and netting make a big difference. The OG shape of the 4 has really been one of the best and hope it continues to be this good. Who’s looking forward to the release?

Forgot I had a newsstand copy of MJ’s first Sports Illustrated cover in a Chicago Bulls uniform from December 10, 1984. Maybe I need to consider getting this one cleaned up, pressed and possibly getting it holdered 🤔📈 The last highest copy graded a CGC 9.8 sold for $126k back in 2023 but it’s definitely a different time now that most all of his collectibles (besides sneakers) are going up! I don’t expect a high grade but it’s definitely intriguing…
