Hawaii Food Tours Ultimate Eaters Guide: Hawaii Edition available at HawaiiFoodTours.com Welcome! My journey is as eclectic as the conversations I spark on 50 Tastes Of Gray.

I’m Matthew Gray—radio/podcast host, chef, storyteller, and self-confessed lifelong learner with a taste for adventure both in and out of the kitchen. From hitting the road with legendary rock bands as a wide-eyed teen, to cooking for Hollywood A-listers, to launching one of America’s first food tour companies in Hawaii—I’ve learned that flavor lives everywhere: in meals, in stories, and in the mo

ment you dare to try something new. I’ve worn enough hats (and aprons) to fill a costume closet—Chef, Author, Food Critic, Entrepreneur, and Radio Pioneer—but everything I do comes back to curiosity, connection, and helping people discover joy in the everyday.

50 Tastes Of Gray is where I bring together passionate people, big ideas, and a dash of mischief to explore food, creativity, and meaning in life. Whether you’re here for a hilarious mishap, a surprising insight, or just an excuse to drool over the next great bite, you’re in the right place. Outside the studio and kitchen, you’ll find me exploring new flavors, penning whimsical musings, and dreaming up ways to make the world tastier and more connected—one story at a time. Pull up a chair, dig in, and let’s savor a life well-tasted—together.

* When host Matthew Gray asks Gina Barreca to “take him to school,” she’s more than ready. With 38 years of teaching at UConn behind her, Gina opens her book of advice ("Gina School") — lessons learned, passed along, and impossible not to share. It’s wisdom wrapped in wit, showing how humor and experience become the best classroom.

🍽✨The amuse bouche is proof that theater doesn’t need a stage — it just needs a plate. A single bite, dressed like it’s auditioning for Broadway, then gone before you know it.

If this little diva made you laugh, wince, or nod in recognition, there’s plenty more where that came from. Subscribe to keep the absurdities coming straight to your inbox — bigger bites, stranger flavors, and the occasional crouton in drag.

And if you enjoyed this sketch, share it with someone who’s ever pretended a teaspoon of soup was life-changing. We’ve all been there.

* If you ever wondered why I call everyone sweetie, darling, babe, and honey—and why every barista within a five-mile radius thinks I’m flirting—I present Exhibit A: this glorious New York truth bomb.

Listen, I grew up in a place where terms of endearment fly around like pigeons fighting over a slice. It’s not flirting, it’s not confusing, it’s not even optional. It’s just Brooklyn linguistics. A dialect of warmth, sass, and a tiny bit of attitude… the kind you can smell from across the East River.

And now that it’s Thanksgiving week? Oh honey, it gets worse. I turn into a full-on affectionate menace. Everyone gets a pet name. Everyone. The cashier? Sweetheart. The guy cutting in line for turkey? Babe, relax, we’ve got all day. The family member who “accidentally” brought canned cranberry sauce again? Oh darling… bless your heart.

I guess what I’m saying is: this image feels like it crawled out of my DNA, grabbed a Sharpie, and wrote my autobiography.

So if you’re around me this Thanksgiving, don’t get flustered when I call you honey while handing you stuffing. I’m not flirting.

I’m just from New York.

And that’s just how we talk, babe. 🖤🦃
