Please take a few minutes and pray that the authorities will be able to make a quick apprehension of the murderer on the loose in The Dalles Oregon area. Pray for comfort for the family and friends of the victims. Finally pray that our local communities would open their hearts and minds to The Savior who paid the price of death for our sins on the cross so that whoever believed on His name and accepted His Loved filled gift could repent of their sinful life and receive His forgiveness. In
1 John 1.9 we read " If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness".
A lot of people think of themselves as good people . However, because of our sin nature, none of us has been able to obey the Ten commandments which help to show us how sinful we really are. 1 Corinthians chapter 6 verses 9 through 11 tell us "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate,( (with reference to a man) having characteristics and ways of behaving traditionally associated with women and regarded as inappropriate for a man.) nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. The 1st part shows those who choose to continue in their sin will not be able to go to heaven which would then send them to hell but verse 11 shows us that they can still repent and be saved. Friends, God sent His Son Jesus while we were yet still sinners! He loves you and doesn't want any of us to perish!
Look at Eziekel 33.11- Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live.
Again see Isaiah 55.7- Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, so he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will freely forgive.
Did you see that word RETURN? Keep that in mind.
Now let's take a moment and look at how seriously Sin is to be taken. Hebrews chapter 10 verses 26 and 27 tell us
"If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God." This is a very strong condeming warning that Satan the accuser would have you to believe you lost your salvation!
Now let's go back to that word return. I'd like to pose a question for you to consider. How can you return to a place you have not been to before? That's right. You can't. 1 Corinthians 6.11 is telling us just as the story of the prodigal son who squandered his inheritance and wound up eating pig food before he came to his senses and RETURNED to his Father, God loves you despite your sin and longs for you to come to Him. Upon the return of Jesus, it will be too late for those who did not receive Him in their hearts. Many know John 3.16 but not the following verse verse -For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.- Finally friends, Acts 26.18 tells us in the Red letter words of Jesus Himself why He gave His life on the cross for you and me -To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
