THE CHURCH THAT NO LONGER FEARS GOD.”
We have built platforms but lost the altar.
We have raised influencers but lost intercessors.
We have more sound than substance, and more emotion than encounter.”
The fear of God has almost disappeared from the modern church.
The atmosphere that once made men tremble now makes them dance without conviction.
The pulpit that once preached repentance now sells motivation.
The sanctuary that once hosted the presence of God has become a stage for performers.”
“But hear me today — a church that does not fear God may be full of people, but it is empty of His presence.”
Proverbs 1:7 — “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”
Hebrews chapter 12 verses 28 to 29 — “Let us worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”
First Peter 1 verse 17 — “Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives in reverent fear.”
“Fear of God is not terror; it is reverence. It’s not panic; it’s awe.
It means knowing He is holy — and you are dust.
It means singing with trembling, preaching with purity, and living with accountability.”
The Entertainment Generation
“We have replaced the cross with comfort.
We no longer preach sin; we promote success.
The church has become a brand, and pastors have become influencers.”
“There’s nothing wrong with excellence. But when excellence replaces reverence, we have built idols in the name of innovation.”
Leviticus chapter 10 verses 1 to 2 — Nadab and Abihu offered strange fire before the Lord and were consumed.
“They thought any fire was acceptable.
But God said, ‘I did not command that.’
Today, we bring strange fire — entertainment, compromise, lust for fame — and call it worship.”
The Casual Church
Casual clothes are not the problem — casual hearts are.
We have become too familiar with God.
We joke in the presence of the King of kings.
We turn holy moments into comedy shows.”
Malachi chapter 1 verse 6 — “‘If I am a Father, where is My honor? If I am a Master, where is My fear?’ says the LORD Almighty.”
“We call Him ‘Daddy God,’ but live like orphans.
We sing of grace, but play with sin.
We crave His blessings, but mock His standards.”
What Happens When the Fear Is Gone
1. The glory departs. – “Ichabod is written on many pulpits (first Samuel 4 verse 21).”
2. The message loses weight. – “We shout, but demons don’t flee.”
3. Sin becomes normal. – “Because when there is no fear, there is no restraint.”
4. Leaders fall. – “When men stop trembling, pride takes the throne.”
5. Souls perish. – “Because entertainment cannot save; only conviction can.”
God is not impressed by our lights or lyrics — He looks for brokenness.
The fear of the Lord is what keeps revival from turning into rebellion.”
“Pastor, musician, usher, believer — God is calling us to return.
Tear down your stage. Rebuild the altar.
Turn off the lights and light the fire again.”
Isaiah chapter 66 verse 2 — “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at My word.”
“We need the trembling back!
We need tears back in our worship.
We need preaching that breaks hearts, not just gets likes.”
Restoring the Fear of God
“How do we restore holy fear?”
1. Preach holiness again. Stop editing God’s Word to please people.
2. Worship in spirit and truth. Remove performance, restore purity.
3. Live accountable. Pastors, be shepherds not celebrities.
4. Pray for conviction, not just comfort.
5. Teach your children reverence. The next generation must see awe, not amusement.
Ecclesiastes chapter 12 verse 13 — “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”
“Church of Christ, wake up!
Revival is not in more events; it’s in more repentance.
We need fewer influencers and more intercessors.
Fewer performances and more presence.”
Proverbs chapter 14 verse 27 — “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.”
“May this generation once again tremble before the King.
May our songs carry weight.
May our pulpits carry power.
May we never trade the fear of God for the applause of men.”
