Akin Studios

Akin Studios Offering recording and music production services to musicians in search of quiet, uninterrupted insp

In 2009, Bennington College grads Matt Scott, Sam Clement, and Jason Beck started Akin. The humble studio lived its infant years in Bennington, Vermont and now resides on the top floor of the newly renovated and restored arts and community center, The Hoosick Falls Armory in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Having graduated in the ripe and musically fruitful late 2000's the trio found itself quickly immersed i

n a number of musical projects centered in NYC. It became apparent that this extensive community of musicians and their work would greatly benefit from having a home. Now, Akin is expanding beyond its "family" and is offering recording and music production services to the local communities and to musicians traveling from metropolitan areas in search of quiet, uninterrupted inspiration.

Just heard the VAE~BMEX first broadcast on WEQX 102.7 and am so proud of the young artists who took on the challenge of showing up each week and absorbing all the talk and walk at AKIN Studios. Hats off to their team of teaching artists, Matt Scott, Sam Clement (and Adam Turner). I heard they also killed it today at Garlic Fest. (This photo is them admiring the recent BMEX finale performance. (It is not out of focus by the way, they are always just a little fuzzy, and we like that). Thanks Diane for the photo.

More exciting BMEX updates ahead!

Another April release, Ethan Koss Smith's, "To Gallery a Cloud Ground" was tracked/produced/mixed/mastered at Akin featuring a number of our team members filling out instrumental duties. This is a cathartic, poignant and stirring piece showcasing Ethan's mature song writing and vocal dexterity.

About Akin

Akin Studios is built around a consortium of engineers, producers, musicians and songwriters who have grown and multiplied since it's inception in late 2010.

Situated on the top floor of the The Hoosick Falls Armory, the space is adorned with wood tones, stone faced turrets and the original hooks, nooks and crannies of the armory's previous occupation as the 101st Cavalry Armored Division. Among the studio's most unique features, Akin maintains access to the building's three story oak staircase as well as a massive defunct gymnasium which provides a natural reverb chamber unlike anything you'll find elsewhere. Akin carries an ambience that can only be described as inspiring, while its unique location lends a mojo that has to be seen (and heard) to fully realize.
