A lot of you had some questions on this. Stay with me for a second. This may look like a runtime screen loading, but there’s a lot happening behind it.

Dell Distributed Private Cloud, is built to deploy and manage infrastructure and applications across edge locations and distributed data centers, so more than one in my basement!

It supports virtual machines and containers, uses a proven KVM hypervisor and container runtime, and includes capabilities like zero-touch onboarding, zero-trust security.

And the part I really want to call out: the OS is immutable. That means the operating foundation is protected from unauthorized changes, so no I can’t just connect into the idrac using Calvin lol

So yes, you’re watching a screen load. But what’s coming online is a secure, automated foundation designed to help you run workloads closer to where the data is created, without adding more work.

There are two kinds of people: the ones who label every cable… and the ones who say they’re going to. 😂

Which rack are you?
1️⃣ The Chaos Rack
2️⃣ The Legacy Beige Rack
3️⃣ The Prestige Rack
4️⃣ The Multi-Vendor Rack
5️⃣ The “Airflow is a suggestion” Rack 💀

The Dell PowerEdge XR9700 is basically what happens when a data center server decides it’s ready to go outside. 😅

Built for high-performance edge AI and Cloud RAN, the XR9700 has an IP66-rated sealed chassis, closed-loop liquid cooling, and a compact 15-liter, sub-40-pound design built for harsh, unprotected environments.

Think remote industrial sites, telecom, utilities, transportation, rooftops and other places where traditional data-center infrastructure just doesn’t make sense.

Meanwhile, I’m still trying to figure out how to justify putting one in my backyard. 😂

Servers. Storage. Networking. Infrastructure. Basically, an IT person’s version of a playground.

And if enterprise storage is your thing, I’ve got a whole series breaking it down on YouTube — Enterprise Storage Simplified.

🎥 Find the full series through the link in my bio.

Look, bringing new enterprise hardware into the house requires a solid crisis communication plan.

Especially if you get the questions I do “how long is that box going to be here for?”

If you get caught holding an unboxed 2U server in the hallway, here is your cheat sheet. Use these wisely:
1. The Privacy Panic: Look them dead in the eye and ask if they really want Big Tech having access to your family’s grocery lists. Tell them it’s a “local encryption node.”
2. The Buffer Defense: Remind them that Plex buffered for two seconds back in March. This hardware ensures that tragedy never happens again. You’re doing this for them.
3. The Financial Genius: Explain that by spending $1,500 on used enterprise gear from eBay, you are actively avoiding a $12 monthly cloud subscription. It’s just basic economics.
Stay strong out there. What is the most ridiculous excuse you’ve actually gotten away with and should I use it?
