GAME RECAP: Tonight was a major test for us, and Frewsburg was fantastic on both ends of the floor. They play incredibly hard, theyโre well coached, and they have talent at every position. Our girls did a great job staying steady through the runs Frewsburg made, and we never allowed them to create real separation. Once we grabbed the lead late in the second quarter, I thought our experience really showed. We locked in defensively, battled for every rebound, and managed the tempo down the stretch. In the end, we earned a tough, well-deserved road win.
Iโm extremely proud of the effort our girls played with and the way they competed for one another. It felt like everyone stepped up at different moments and made plays that directly impacted the outcome, and the stat sheet reflects that.
Specifically, Jordyn Dyring, Selena Maldonado, and Raegan Evingham were tremendous on the defensive end. They took turns guarding Frewsburgโs top players and just never stopped competing, possession after possession, they made everything difficult for the girls they guarded. Those three also controlled the game for us late by hitting big free throws, taking care of the ball, and dictating the style of play in the final minutes. Their experience in these moments is huge for us, and it shows. As a coaching staff, itโs a luxury to have multiple players who are so committed to winning and who play with so much poise. Our trust in them is as high as it gets.
AโJonay Hawkins set the tone early with her dominance in the paint. She scored efficiently, rebounded relentlessly, and her presence demanded extra attention all night. She showed her versatility, scoring one-on-one when we needed it, and making the right reads and passes when the double teams came.
Mia Nasca hit two huge threes that helped spark our run in the third quarter, and her role in our press break, along with her communication and leadership in our zone, was vital tonight.
Teegan Eveland provided a massive spark as well, especially in the second half. She came up with big rebounds, deflections, steals, and hustle plays at exactly the right times. Her impact was all effort-driven, and she delivered for us in multiple key moments.
Overall, this was a tough, competitive win, and a great example of our team playing for each other and rising to the moment - Coach Jim Dagon! Post sponsored by Wilkins Auto Sales & Hornell BPOE Lodge 364 LCAA's Finest Section V Girls Basketball
