Severe weather will be possible across much of Arkansas late this evening and overnight as a complex of strong thunderstorms moves out of Oklahoma. Damaging straight-line winds will be the primary threat with these storms, but some large hail may be possible as well. Most of the precipitation is expected to move out of the state by late Monday morning, and the first half of the workweek looks to be dry with temperatures in the upper 80s. Rain chances will then return on Thursday and persist through the weekend with much of the state forecast to pick up 1 to 2 inches of accumulated precipitation by the end of the period. There could be a few strong to severe storms on Thursday and Friday as well, with hail and strong wind gusts the primary concerns. Stay weather aware!

Severe weather appears likely this afternoon and evening across much of Arkansas. Scattered supercells are expected to develop across eastern Oklahoma before moving into western Arkansas during the 4:00-7:00 timeframe. These storms will be capable of producing violent tornadoes, giant hail, and damaging wind gusts. The severe potential will persist into parts of central and eastern Arkansas during the evening and overnight hours, though some weakening is expected after dark.
