Dates are one of my favorite snacks in October, I swear these taste just like candy corn, but are wayyy more beneficial to your body!
🤩 Dates have a low/medium glycemic index score, include natural sugar from fructose, are filled with fiber and include over 16 nutrients including numerous B vitamins, potassium, manganese, calcium, magnesium. ✌️
So why not satisfy your sweet tooth with some gluten, dairy and refined sugar free treats this Halloween? You won't even MISS the sugary Halloween candy!
Caramelized Chocolate Dates (Guilt Free Halloween Candy!)
1 package dates
1/4 cup coconut oil
1 tbsp. cacao powder (optional—but gives a chocolate flavor)
Directions:
Pre-heat oven to broil.
Place dates in a bowl.
Melt coconut oil in a pan over low heat until melted, add cacao powder if using and mix together.
Pour coconut/cacao powder mixture over dates.
Pour dates onto the cookie sheet.
Place dates in the oven and broil a few inches from the heat for 3-5 minutes, until they start to caramelize.
Remove from heat and let cool.
NOTE: keep an eye on them, they will burn quickly.
