U.P. History, standing near the location of the first copper mining office in Copper Harbor on Porter's Island. Captain Walter Cunningham was appointed in 1843 by the U.S. War Department as the Special Agent for Lake Superior mines. His job was to administer mining leases in the region, this was the beginning of the Copper Rush of 1843. The amount of wealth that came from mining copper far exceeded the Gold Rush.

ROCK LICKERS UNITE! I decided to do some rock picking along the shore with nice little coves and little caves. Dense fog came and went through the day as horns blasted from ships as they passed by the Keweenaw. The calmness of Lake Superior today with the fog added to the ambiance of this day as you listed to the gently lapping waves as they tumbled smaller rocks in the cove. I flew the drone, walked around the rocky shoreline, sat and listened to the waves and fog horns as I thought about how beautiful Lake Superior is and the many moods you see through the 4 seasons.

Lake Superior has so many nooks and crannies along the shoreline, just know where you can go.

Rocks were found at Hebard park and copper/chrysocolla was found on two tracks in the Keweenaw.

Thumbs down at this waterfall. This is the first waterfall I found in 2025 in the month of March. I returned yesterday only find a trickle of water you can't really see in the picture. Since then I've found about 120 more waterfalls in 2025, getting really close to 900 now if not already there and still a little way from hitting 1000 Upper Peninsula waterfalls. I won't be doing as much adventuring for waterfalls now that water flow has lessened and I have more adventures planned like fishing, biking, kayaking, camping, rock picking, more hikes, filming history videos and travel videos.

A couple waterfalls near Rockland and Mass city, I've never caught them with real good flow unfortunately. Still the moss and rock faces are pretty neat, pretty steep lil area.
