Kakabika falls is a series of 6 waterfall/rocky drops on the scenic Cisco Branch Ontonagon River. The hike is short and forest is filled with lush green vegetation throughout summer, as fall arrives leaves turn golden yellow. There's lots of big boulders to sit on and enjoy the sounds of the water and birds chirping.
Located in the Ottawa National Forest off of CoRd 527 between Watersmeet and Marinesco.

U.P. History, standing near the location of the first copper mining office in Copper Harbor on Porter's Island. Captain Walter Cunningham was appointed in 1843 by the U.S. War Department as the Special Agent for Lake Superior mines. His job was to administer mining leases in the region, this was the beginning of the Copper Rush of 1843. The amount of wealth that came from mining copper far exceeded the Gold Rush.
