I don’t want my daughters growing up thinking love is supposed to hurt.

I don’t want them believing they have to shrink themselves to keep someone happy.

I don’t want them thinking loyalty means accepting things they never should.

I want them to know that love should feel safe.

That respect matters.

That their voice matters.

That walking away from something unhealthy isn’t failure.

It’s courage.

Sometimes the greatest lesson we teach our children isn’t how to stay.

It’s showing them that they are allowed to leave anything that costs them their peace.

Shouting at others does not make our life quieter.
Speaking ill of others does not make people speak well of us.
And hurting others does not heal us.

The way that cutting someone else’s flowers
or depriving them of water
or shutting them in the dark
will not make ours grow.

We cannot expect growth if we don’t focus on ourselves.

So we have to nurture ourselves.
Be patient with ourselves.
Allow ourselves light.
Feed ourselves.

We are all born to blossom.
But weakening someone else’s flower
will not strengthen our roots.
And strong roots mean we bloom. Strong roots mean growth.

Yes, we are all born to blossom.
To grow.

But we’ve got to heal our roots first.
