Pilot Recording Studios, founded in New York City in 1993 by Will Schillinger is now located in a former church in Housatonic, Massachusetts. Pilot Recording's new studios feature a beautiful cathedral-ceiling live room containing an original 19th century E. & G. Pilot will continue to provide the same vintage and state-of-the-art gear and instruments, as were hallmarks of its NYC facility, includ

ing a collection of over 100 microphones and a vast array of vintage analog and digital outboard gear with a wrap-around SSL 4080 G+. Pilot's new studios at the Housatonic Church also provide a full compliment of outboard recording, mastering and monitoring gear. Pilot will continue to deliver the cleanest, most direct feed via a wide variety of class A microphone pre-amps tracking to 2 inch and ½ inch tape and the highest resolution apogee-based pro-tools mix rig. This is a full service tracking and mixing facility. The new Pilot Recording Studios at the Housatonic Church includes an attached former parsonage, which will offer accommodations for clients. Yesterday at Lincoln Center, Beth and I attended a beautiful memorial and celebration of the life of, the Maestro, Ahmad Jamal. The event was a gathering filled with moving tributes by Dr. Sumayah Jamal, Todd Barkin, Melvin Williams, and many others.
The night also included performances by the incredible George Coleman, Monty Alexander, Herlin Reilly, Yoko Miwa, Peter Washington, Ned Otter, James Cammack, and a host of other talented musicians. This was a spectacular tribute to an incredible soul who left an indelible mark on the world of music. It was a momentous occasion, capturing the essence of a life well-lived and the everlasting impact of a man whose music will continue to inspire generations to come.
