Inspired by the Urdu word “rūng,” which means “color,” we seek to spotlight the vibrant, multifaceted perspectives of storytellers of Pakistani heritage, whether they

’re based in the U.S. or anywhere around the world. We welcome all genres and are proud to be supported by renowned Pakistani American Hollywood actors Faran Tahir (“Iron Man”) and Kamran Shaikh (“Outer Banks”). Beyond showcasing films, we strive to foster an inclusive community that offers ongoing support and mentorship for filmmakers at every stage of their journey. Our annual festival features educational workshops, interactive discussions, and panels with industry experts, making it not just a screening event but a genuine hub of learning and collaboration. Dear friends and fans,

After the phenomenal success of Rung Film Festival 2025, we’re thrilled to announce that Rung Film Festival 2026 is now open for submissions! https://filmfreeway.com/RungFilmFestival

We’re inviting filmmakers and creatives from around the world to share their cinematic vision. Whether you’re an emerging talent or an established professional—director, producer, actor, or crew member—of Pakistani heritage or telling stories that explore Pakistani experiences, we welcome you to showcase your work to an engaged audience and industry peers. Starting 2026, we are also accepting films made in all languages of Pakistan.

Selected films will screen at the Rung Film Festival on May 16 & 17, 2026, at MATCH Houston, in the creative heart of Houston, TX. All entries will be considered for both the Grand Jury Awards and the Audience Choice Awards.
