There was a time when leaving education felt like a secret shame. It was even “taboo.” But sometimes, the greatest impact comes from stepping outside the expected path. Creating a space to achieve more should be celebrated, not shunned. Have you felt this?

Still waiting until you feel ready to make your next career move?

Truth bomb: you’ll never feel 100% ready.

When I first left the classroom, I thought I needed a perfect resume, a huge network, and one more certification before I could even think about applying.
The reality? I just needed to take one small step.

Here’s the thing — you don’t need to have it all figured out before you start.
You just need to start.

| From Classroom to Sales Enablement

Let’s take a quick field trip… to a role most teachers don’t know exists (but should): Sales Enablement.

🧐 What is it?
It’s all about helping sales teams succeed by giving them the tools, content, training, and support they need to close deals. Think of it as instructional coaching for adults, but in the business world.

✨ If you’ve ever…
✔️ Created resources
✔️ Trained your colleagues
✔️ Adapted based on student needs
✔️ Helped others hit their goals
…you already have the core skills.

You don’t need a sales background.
You just need the ability to teach, adapt, and support success.

🧐 Ever feel like you're too good at spotting mistakes?

Same. And guess what? That’s a real job skill.

Teachers are already doing the work of QA Analysts — testing systems, catching problems, thinking like the end user, and documenting everything in detail.

You’ve checked websites before a lesson.
You’ve rewritten broken directions so they actually make sense.
You’ve troubleshot apps five minutes before the bell rang.

That’s quality assurance in action.

QA roles exist in every industry, not just education or tech.
And they’re perfect for people who love details, solving problems, and improving the user experience.

You’re not underqualified. You’re just missing the title.

Lately, work has been going 100 miles a minute.
And I don’t usually share the vulnerable stuff here,
but today felt like a moment I couldn’t keep quiet.
Because I have a feeling I’m not the only one.

First, let me say this: I love my work.
But lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m on the brink of tears.
Everything’s been moving so fast.
The pressure to show up. To do it all.
And in the background? I haven’t been sleeping well.
I haven’t been creating much content.
And I miss it. But I’ve been stretched so thin,
there hasn’t been space.

And honestly?
Being a full-time working mom,
a dog mom, a house manager,
and a content creator…
it’s a lot.

It’s the late nights catching up after sick days.
It’s the guilt of being present everywhere but still feeling like it’s not enough.
It’s the moments my son sees me come downstairs and just wants to cuddle.
And I want to drop everything to soak it in.

So today I’m pressing pause.
Not to stop, but to reset.

We carry so much.
And often, we forget to care for the one holding it all together—ourselves.

If you’ve ever felt creatively or emotionally depleted,
what helps you refill your cup?

Asking from a very real place today. 💛

📲 So you wanna start networking but feel totally awkward about it?

Totally get it. That was me too.

But here’s the thing: networking doesn’t have to feel weird or fake.
It’s literally just connecting with people. That’s it.

Here’s what I tell teachers to start with:

✨ Keep it casual:
“Hey! I saw you work in [role/industry]. I’m a former teacher exploring similar paths. Would love to connect and learn more about your journey if you’re open to it!”

✨ Once they connect:
“Thanks so much for accepting! I’m just starting to explore this space and would love any advice or insight you’re open to sharing.”

✨ Pro tip:
Don’t wait until you need something. Show up first. Comment. Cheer them on. Be a human. That’s what actually builds relationships.

You don’t need a perfect message or a fancy title. You just need to start.
And no, you don’t need 500 connections. Just a few people who are willing to open a door.

Drop a 💬 if you’ve been nervous to hit send. Let’s normalize practicing out loud together.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve worked weekends.

Whether it was building content, coaching clients, or just catching up after a wild week, I was always doing something.

Now, work looks different. I only get small windows during my son’s naps to get things done. So I try to be efficient, but if I’m honest, that’s the part I still struggle with.

Most of the time, I’m working from the couch, getting puppy snuggles, half-watching TV I never get to see during the week, and cramming in whatever I can before nap time is over.

I constantly feel like I’m operating in a deficit. Always behind. Always trying to do all the things.

It’s not perfect. It’s not balanced. But it’s mine. And even in the chaos, I wouldn’t trade it.

I still remember attending ISTE as an educator, walking the expo floor wide-eyed, soaking in all the ideas, dreaming of what was possible beyond my classroom walls.

Fast forward to now, and I’m on the other side, supporting this amazing event as a vendor. My role at Canva lets me dive deep into what I love most: creating the presentation content, microsites, schedules, and so much more. And honestly… I forgot just how much joy it brings me. Watching our team bring that content to life with their own unique styles and energy is pure magic.

This year felt extra special. I didn’t just attend or present, I got to be part of building the experience.

Huge shoutout to my colleague for helping bring our community content to life, prepping an engaging customization session, and launching our Magic Activities Beta! None of it would’ve been possible without real teamwork, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Thank you to everyone who made this week unforgettable, and to those who stopped to say hi. My heart (and creative energy) is full. 💙

📸 This was me in the classroom.

I loved teaching. I loved my students. But I hit a ceiling, financially, professionally, and creatively.

Even with a master’s degree, I was working nights and weekends just to get by. If I had stayed, I’d be 17 years in and still struggling to put food on the table. At least, here in Texas.

I was told I was “too innovative.” That I thought too far outside the box.

But outside the classroom?

That’s exactly what’s helped me grow and thrive.

It’s been 7 years since I left, and I still miss parts of it.

But I know I made the right choice because I kept growing.

And now, I get to help teachers step into careers that align with who they really are.

If you’re thinking about leaving… you’re not alone.

It doesn’t mean you’re giving up.
It means you’re ready for more.
