When you recognize that your spouse ultimately belongs to God, you shift how you approach your relationship. Instead of viewing them as someone you own or control, you begin to see them as someone entrusted to you by God—someone to honor, respect, and cherish.
This perspective brings humility, reminding us that we are not the center of the relationship but rather stewards of God’s creation, called to love our spouse in a way that reflects God’s own love.
Loving with this mindset means treating our spouse not just with affection but with reverence. It challenges us to care for them selflessly, to listen, forgive, support, and serve—not out of obligation, but out of obedience to God.
It means protecting their heart, encouraging their growth, and praying for them regularly, knowing they are deeply loved by God first.
This kind of love is not possessive or conditional—it is sacrificial, intentional, and rooted in faith.
