PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT
Subject: Bridge Jumping in Cross Creek Ranch – Skycreek Crossing & Cross Creek Bend Lane
It has been reported that some children have been jumping from the bridge into the lake at Skycreek Crossing and Cross Creek Bend Lane within the Cross Creek Ranch community. While this may seem like a fun activity, it presents serious safety, environmental, and legal concerns.
1. Unsafe Water Quality
The lake contains fertilizer runoff from surrounding landscaping, which can be harmful to both skin and overall health.
2. Dangerous Wildlife
We understand that kids will be kids, and with the Texas heat, it’s tempting to cool off any way they can. But above all, we want them to be safe. The lake is home to wildlife such as water moccasins and the occasional alligator. These animals can be unpredictable and may become aggressive, especially if startled by someone unexpectedly jumping into the water.
3. Private Property and Trespassing
These lakes are the property of the local MUD district and are not intended for recreational use like swimming or jumping. Entering the water is considered trespassing and is not allowed by the property owners.
4. Hidden Dangers
Beneath the surface may be rocks, sharp debris, or sudden depth changes, all of which increase the risk of serious injury.
We ask all parents and guardians to speak with their children about the dangers and legal implications of this activity. Cross Creek Ranch is a wonderful community, and we all share a responsibility to keep it safe and respectful for everyone.
As always, thank you for your support, we have your back and we know you have ours.
