“But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

It is so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that living out our faith is primarily about managing appearances, keeping up with religious routines, or checking off traditional boxes. But Jesus cuts straight to the core of what truly matters to God. He makes it clear that God is not looking for cold, ritualistic performance or self-righteous judgment; He desires a heart marked by genuine mercy, empathy, and grace. Jesus came specifically to seek, love, and restore the broken, the overlooked, and those who know they fall short. When we extend mercy to others instead of holding them to impossible standards, we mirror the very heart of the Savior who loved us when we were at our worst.

God, forgive us for the times we focus on religious routine or harbor judgment toward others instead of offering grace. Soften our hearts, and remind us daily of the incredible mercy You have shown us so that we can freely extend that same love to everyone around us.
