So the 2006-2009 R18 honda Civic engines (manufactured in the U.S.A. only) are notorious for developing cracks in the short block due to a casting defect. As a result, Honda had released a factory warranty extension (10 years / unlimited miles) to replace the short block on these affected motors... but sadly, this warranty extension is no longer available based on time.

As you might suspect by this point, my 2008 R18 is now experiencing this exact problem.

I've been on the fence on how I want to move forward with repairing the cracked engine block on my R18 Honda Civic.

After watching the most recent Gears and Gasoline MR2 V6 engine build video, I've finally decided that the best option moving forward will be to replace the short block with a brand new (updated) Honda OEM short block.

This is going to be a massive project to complete in the garage by myself. Hopefully, with any luck, I will come out the other side of this snafu with a build that will be stronger and more reliable than before...

Wish me luck... I'm going to need it 🤣.
