After 7 years of operating the studio I’ll reach a point of closure - starting November, the Studio NiaMoves space will be exclusively leased by Mode 8 Yoga & Fitness studio of Clear Lake to open a hot yoga studio, and all current classes and events will close out by end of next month.
The studio weathered through the pandemic with subsides from our multiple jobs, and the last few years have been extremely difficult for both my husband and I financially, physically and emotionally. I’ve loved teaching, coaching and dancing in this space, but during my trip to Italy this month I had finally come to a conclusion that I need to move on.
I still vividly remember my conversation with Carlos the cofounder of Nia regarding why I stepped in when I was feeling kneedeep in the mud in the earlier days. I feel the space has served its purpose to me, to you, our community, and it's time to let the space go. I am grateful through the past 7+ years we were able to carry on the torch of Nia community built by Helen Terry and Kristie Bryant with support from many Nia Teachers and Houston Nia Collective, while offering a variety of classes, events and workshops throughout the years to reach different people in many ways, and I am grateful that I am chosen to hold the space for as long as it serves. As I am drawing the closure to Studio Owner role and the chapter of NiaMoves, I want to especially thank all of our teachers, sages, hosts and clients for supporting me through the journey of stepping in and keepsake thus far, and I truly appreciate and cherish our friendship and many of your mentorship through time. Thank you for sharing your practice, your wisdom and your light.
I’m sad yet hopeful. NiaMoves will remain the fondest in my heart as my first boutique studio to dance, to teach and to operate. In the coming weeks, the studio will get a remodel and modernization touch by new owners at Mode 8 Yoga & Fitness and the elephant mural will remain. I am also actively helping the current studio teachers and event hosts to relocate to ease their transition. We will post additional updates and further announcements will be made once we finalize their next teaching homes.
For those of you are curious, I am actively exploring what next chapter of my life looks like. I have learned a lot through the last few years navagating my corporate career while remain active in studio management, various fitness and wellness programs and spiritual communities. I will be opening new doors, gain/regain connections, regain the joy in dancing, mentoring and teaching whatever that unfolds for me. As the wise ones said, if you are brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with new hello.
I see this as more of a "see you later" than a "goodbye forever". Hope to see you soon as our roads cross.
Yours truly,
Angela
