That’s where Master’s Night Orders come in.

These written instructions help the Officer of the Watch (OOW) understand exactly when to call the Master and what situations require extra attention.

📖 Night Orders are not just a formality—they are a critical safety tool that strengthens Bridge Resource Management (BRM) and ensures the Master remains informed of any developing situation.

Common Situations Requiring the Master to Be Called:

⚠️ Reduced visibility (fog, heavy rain, sandstorms)

⚠️ CPA/TCPA concerns or risk of collision

⚠️ Heavy traffic situations

⚠️ Significant course alterations
