The world is a wild and cruel place right now. Quiero tomar un café contigo. How do you take your coffee? En este foto tengo un cappuccino con canela, something I never had before until I visited DR. Now I have my afternoon cafecito “Dominican style.”

It’s probably not Dominican style but it was this particular barista who made it this way. I loved it! El barista tuve un nombre distinto dominicano también, Nuyorkis! 💕🇩🇴

Why going viral shouldn’t be the goal:

🔥 It doesn’t guarantee business impact— people may remember the meme, but can forget the brand behind it.

🔥 You’ll get short term attention, not long term value— you’ll get your fifteen minutes on TikTok, but beyond that, what else?

🔥 You can end up attracting the wrong audience— virality makes videos spread to everyone, not necessarily your target audience.

🔥 You can lose control of the narrative quickly— once something has gone viral, the audience takes over in shaping the convo. Are you equipped to handle the fallout, misinterpretations, parodies, and trolls?

🔥 Encourages “vanity metrics” over real engagement and KPIs that matter.

🔥 High risk of misalignment with the brand— content is meant to enhance a campaign and help support achieving the goals in the overall social strategy, not the other way around.

🔥 Wildly difficult to replicate or predict— virality is often a mix of timing, luck, and platform algos (god help us lol)

🔥 Opportunity cost— chasing virality can divert valuable time and resources away from solid social strategy and building meaningful engagement like community building, partnerships and collabs, and consistent and sustainable storytelling.
