A Touch of Mystery

🤫 I thought I was the only one keeping this family secret… until I stumbled upon a book.📖

That’s me and my Aunt Mozelle right in front of our old house in Detroit. From the time I was a little girl living there full-time, and every single summer until I was 16, I knew she carried a quiet power. It was a hidden family secret that kept food on the table, built a life, and demanded absolute loyalty.

I kept that secret close to my heart for decades, thinking it was just "our" story. Then, years later, I stumbled across a book that completely stopped me in my tracks. My jaw dropped. We weren’t alone.

This month on "Let There Be Sound", I’m opening up the vault. I’m doing a deep-dive synopsis of this incredible, eye-opening book and weaving in my own personal history.🎧

💛It’s a soulful tribute to the brilliant, courageous💪🏾 Black women who built their own systems of survival and carved a way out of no way.🌱✨
