Before the Holocaust, Jewish life across Europe thrived in diverse, vibrant communities, deeply rooted in culture and tradition.

Many of the 6 million individuals who perished during the Holocaust, and many of those who survived, came from families rich in heritage. Some of their stories are now being brought to light in a moving exhibition at HOLOCAUST MUSEUM HOUSTON.

On view in the Josef and Edith Mincberg Gallery through Jan. 4, “Unveiled: From the Vault” presents a carefully selected array of rarely seen artifacts from the museum’s permanent collection – some on display for the first time.

When Rabbi Jonathan Siger set sail across the North Atlantic this summer aboard the Empire State VII, he was on a sacred mission: to serve as a spiritual anchor for a ship full of cadets training for careers with the United States Merchant Marine.

Over the course of three weeks, Rabbi Siger, Congregation Jewish Community North’s spiritual leader in Spring, provided prayers, a sense of community and camaraderie to more than 500 men and women of various faiths and backgrounds.
