Zine Fest Houston is a local volunteer-run organization and annual one day festival dedicated to promoting zines, comics, and other forms of small press.

ZFH MISSION STATEMENT

Zine Fest Houston (ZFH) is dedicated to providing opportunities and space for zinesters, artists, and self-publishers to present DIY works and participate in an alternative avenue for commerce. Through year-round educational programming, publications and a free annual festival, ZFH seeks to empower independent artists, lift up marginalized voices in the creative sphere, and

promote equitable conditions for its creative community to thrive. ZFH VISION STATEMENT

Economic and creative liberation through self-publishing

Zine Fest Houston (ZFH) seeks to become a vehicle for new and emerging artists to experiment and thrive with not only the support of a vibrant community but through material assistance in the form of grants and paid opportunities with the festival. In addition, ZFH’s goal is to create the social conditions for alternative creative expression, as well as create a sustainable financial base from which to offer competitive payment for services rendered by artists, tech support, presenting artists, and beyond.

Howdy, y’all! This afternoon we are thrilled to announce our 2025 Featured Artist: Isaiah Broussard! Read on for more information about this long-time friend of the fest.

Isaiah Broussard is a Houston born independent cartoonist based in Austin, TX. His work, “Crackers & White Wine” was named Houston’s best political webcomic by Houston Press. He also created the all-ages comedy/horror comic “Transyltown,” and currently creates “Uppity,” a gag strip about a jazz band living in Jim Crow era America, and the sci-fi extravaganza “The Funktastic Adventure.” You can read his works at www.brasscomics.com.

We can’t wait to see what he comes up with for this year’s poster and compilation cover!

So spitshine those spurs, polish up your pearl snaps, and get ready to SHOW UP IN STYLE at !

In the spirit of optimism and envisioning utopian futures, Zine Fest Houston and Houston-based landscape architecture studio Dept. bring you the first ever ZFH SEED TRADE! Stop by during Zine Fest Houston and you can donate or trade your very own seeds! Vegetal, Herbaceous, Perennial, Annual, Endemic Varieties, Good Ol' Garden Center Stuff: All Seeds Welcome. Paper envelopes will be available for the easy trading of seeds. Feel free to package and label your own seeds if you wish to donate. Start envisioning future gardens now! Plant seeds! Share abundance!
