At about 2:45a.m. on the morning of May 25, 1980, a possibly pregnant woman was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross from South to North on East Freeway in Houston, Texas.
The driver contacted authorities, she was pronounced deceased at the scene - no charges were ever filed and the driver has since passed away.
The woman was described as a white female between 25 to 35 years old, 5'6" tall, 154lbs, hazel eyes, and curly black hair that was approximately 11 inches long.
She had unkempt teeth that were in need of cleaning,, and a blotchy skin tone. Her fingernails were bitten to the quick; her toenails were cut short and not painted. She had natural body hair except for her left leg, which was shaved. She had stretch marks on her breast and abdomen and had a 4 inch surgical scar on the right side of her abdomen (appendectomy).
During autopsy, it was noted that she had borne children in the past, but was also possibly pregnant at the time of her death. No fetus was found, but there was about 2 inches of placental tissue. She suffered crushing pelvic injuries, which may or may not account for the lack of a fetus. If pregnant, she may not have been more than 20 weeks, based on the size of the tissue and uterus.
She was wearing a black or dark blue v-neck, size 10 blouse that had light-colored flowers on it. Her jeans were Sasson brand and appeared brand new and never washed. She was wearing a size 36B bra and size 8.5 high heels - one of which was lost at the scene.
Harris County Jane Doe 1980 has DNA and fingerprints available. Her remains are buried at Harris County Cemetery.
She has gone unidentified for 44 years. Her children could be anywhere between 45 and 65 years of age by now.
